My LLMD had ordered a C4a test, and my C4a level is 2200, which is 4 times the normal level.

My LLMD said something about it was a measure of inflammation. I did a google search, but could not find much about the test -- at least not anything my brain could comprehend.

I was hoping that someone could explain to me what C4a is? And what the test results mean?

Have you had this test done? and what was your level?

Here is a handout that I have: "Increased C4a, but not C3a, appears to be a useful for chronic lyme disease.

In chronic lyme disease, C4a levels are higher in patients with predominant musculskeletal symptoms versus predominant neurological symptoms.

Response to treatment in lyme disease is associated with a decrease in C4a levels.

The role of increased C4a in chronic lyme disease merits further study."
