I see some people are saying that the below supplements have really helped them with detox/inflammation. Could those who use them please post brand and dose recommendations?

Vitamin C
Wobenzyme
Vitamin E
Querectin
Bromelain

I do low dose now.. but while my eyes were inflammed I went on high dose.. then stopped.

My whole body felt better and it cleared up my eyes while on it and I avoided steroids by doing this. I THINK I used it full doses for about 6 weeks total before I stopped.

Then I re-started this protocol but low dose, as the higher ones didn't feel so good.

This is my experience and what I was told to do originally. Hope it helps.

[Big Grin]

Vitamin C- started with 1,200 a day.. now don't do any. But that is ME. Some reason it doesn't agree with me?? I also suggest getting the buffered kind as it can be rough on the tummy!

Wobenzyme- took max doses on bottle- now only do one per day... BETWEEN meals. It is the most expensive of the group. But if trying to up the dose.. it isn't good for ME. I would suggest more is typically needed though to get the needed effect and more was recommended by my doctor.

Vitamin E- Was told to start at 400 and go up to 800. I didn't. Stayed at 400. Dropped to 200 IU at one point... then increased it back to 400 as it helps thin the blood for women.. and I needed that. Blood tests have shown that and the green tea worked to get my blood thinner.

Querectin- was told to take max dose on bottle. Now I take one a day. My bottle... Solaray NON-CITRUS Quercetin... is 500 mg. It says take one pill 2 X a day.

Bromelain- I use Source Naturals brand which is 2000 GDU/Gram. I take one a day but it says you can take 3 a day.. with meals. I also eat more pinapple now... so figure that is helping too.

I take Rutozyme....somewhat similar to Wobenzyme.

The best anti-inflammatory is mangosteen...the high quality kind.

Do you have a brand of Mangosteen you would suggest. Better yet a link to one.

I have been thinking about taking this stuff

Take care

Turmeric (even the spice kind from the health food store works), and resveratrol made from Japanese Knotweed, are both really good. Check into Stephen Buhner's book Healing Lyme or look at some of the herbal threads in my signature for more info.

Here's what I've found to be most effective for myself. (Mostly neck inflammation and stiffness)

* Boswellia extract [~60% boswellic acids]. Although there is an extract containing one of the most potent chemicals isolated from that extract called 5-Loxin, I have not tried the 5-Loxin yet, but will sometime soon when I have money.

* Skullcap extract (I use "New Chapter, Chinese Skullcap", 1-2 capsules 1-3x daily)

* Fish Oil (molecularly distilled so that there are no toxins, with high EPA and DHA) ( I use Nature's Answer, Liquid Omega-3, Deep Sea Fish Oil EPA/DHA 1 Teaspoon 1-2x daily.

* Ginger Extract (Standardized to min. 5% Gingerols) ~250mg capsule 2-3x daily, before each meal.

* Bromelain [2000-2400GDU) 1-3x daily (on an empty stomach, but I also take it with meals to help digest food)

* Garlic extract 1 tab 1-3x daily ( There are a lot of good ones and bad ones, Pure-Gar I like)

* Vitamin E (High-Gamma mixed tocopherols preferably with tocotrienols)

* Aloe juice or extract

* Pomegranate Juice

* Minerals (Chelated Magnesium, chelated Zinc, Selenium[Methylselenocysteine])

* Buffered Vitamin C - with certain citrus bioflavonoids (hesperidin and rutin mostly, I avoid quercetin & grapefruit ones for certain reasons)

* Chlorella (certain brands seem to give me a possible allergic reaction [rash]. Just started taking nature's way brand and it hasn't given me a rash. I really like their herbs and herb extracts.)

* Other herbs and supplements that keep my immune and stress systems "in-line", which prevents inflammation:

*L-Theanine [100-200mg 1-4x daily]

*Raw Astragalus (1,000-1,300mg 1-2x daily, take breaks from it sometimes)

*Jarrow B-right co-enzymated b-vitamin complex

Hope my format wasn't too confusing for you CD57. Feel free to PM me with any questions if you want to in case I were not specific enough.

Ahhh crap, I just re-read what you actually said CD57. Darn. You weren't asking for more suggestions just specific brands/doses of the ones you typed. Oh well I just spent time typing all that I'm not deleting it! However...

Vitamin C - I like the buffered vitamin C's mag/cal/zinc ascorbates or sodium ascorbate or calcium ascorbate. Some have bioflavonoids. I avoid quercetin and grapefruit bioflavonoids, but like rutin and hesperidin. Some bioflavonoids can interact with certain medications, so you might want to not get them!

NOTE: If you are going to be taking vitamin C tabs and want to do higher doses, you might want to AVOID the ones with bioperine in them. As taking too much really irritates my gut!

I've not tried wobenzyme, but you'd probably preferably want to get an enteric coated tablet brand.

Vitamin E AVOID d,l-alpha tocopherol. The l-fraction is synthetic and useless. I like ones with HIGH gamma-tocopherol and mixed tocopherols. Regular "vitamin e" is alpha-tocopherol. I read a study once that said alpha depletes gamma tocopherol, and that gamma-tocopherol is more important for some heart functions, so that's probably why all that fuss about vitamin E being bad for heart patients came about. "Jarrow Formulas, Gamma E" or something similar to it looks good. Tocotrienols are also great to take with tocopherols, they are in the vitamin E "family".

Bromelain "NOW" brand I like. 2000 or 2400GDU, 1-3x daily on empty stomach for inflammation.

Sorry for making this post excessively long and potentially confusing, but oh well!

Hope everyone keeps feeling better!!!

I was taking 5 wobenzyme 3 times a day. Just switched to Jon Barron's proteolytic enzymes. I really like his formulas for herbals. I'm taking 3 by 3 a day.

1 teaspoon twice a day of mangosteen powder "www.royaltropics.com". It is the periocarp not the fruit, which is what really want anyways. My feeling is get the powder, this is what they throw in the juice anyways. A pound of this for me last two months for thirty bucks. If you want juice, get some pine-apple juice and throw some mangosteen powder in it.

1 teaspoon twice a day of noni powder again "www.royaltropics.com".

1 teaspoon twice a day of green papaya again "www.royaltropics.com"

2 by 2 Nature's Balance : nutracid -- it's specializes in gout but good for leg pain. Don't think I need it anymore...

Most everything else I do is in diet.

Bromelain never did anything for me. I thought Quercetin was a pain reducer not anti-inflammatory. But maybe it does both?

My LLMD just had me start taking something called Advanced Inflammation Control by Complementary Prescriptions. It has in it:

Stephania tetrandra extract
Nettle Leaf
Holy Basil
Ginger
Boswellia Serrata Extract
Green Tea extract
Luteolin

I just started it, so I can't tell you if it helps or not. She started me on it because I have to go off Plaquenil which I've been taking to reduce pain and stiffness in my hands because I found I can't detox sulfa based drugs.

[QUOTE]Originally posted by CD57:Could those who use them please post brand?

Every vitamin/nutracutical I use is from a company called Solal Technologies in South Africa via Biogenesis. They are all pharmacutical grade and are used by doctors, they also do many different intracellular antixoxidents that contain all you need, also there product called 3Per day contains all Vits/minerals you need. If you are on Bio-dentical hormones they also supply those. My Endo is SA and I have been using this brand for years, they are ne of the only suppliers in SA now and huge all over europe - in my opinion they are the purest and provise clincal research for every item. Its also great to be able to get all your vits/hormones etc from one place.
