I Have arthritis in several joints and the joint pain does come and go.
It's hard to tell if it corresponds to the weather, though. (The weather changes alot around here)
Honestly, I think it's a little bit of both - the barometric pressure and a cyclical flare.

I have RA as a result of my lyme and according to my rheumy, I have "explosive RA" the like of which she has only seen 3 or 4 times in her career.
So, understanding I have a severe case, this is important.
The first 2 winters, the cold weather affected me significantly. Sunshine is my friend. It is my friend even though I was on minocycline and now on doxy (two meds that require you to avoid the sun).
This summer, bloodwork showed I was very low in Vit D. So, I started supplementing 1000 IU on the days I could not get into the sun. Otherwise, I would make sure I got 15 mins sun exposure daily. Anything more than that (I ride horses, so I see lots of sun) I wore protective clothing. No sunscreen. I try not to add to my toxic load.
This winter, (winter sun is too weak is you live north of Mississippi)I have supplemented Vit D daily and I have had a painfree winter. There is some joint damage that I deal with, but it has nothing to do with weather.
Just yesterday, I was at the barn during a near tornado with temps in the 30's. No gloves and my cold hands had no joint problems once again. I marvel and I credit the Vit D. Of course, my doctor has been doing much more for me than just Vit D, but nothing much different from the previous two winters.

My joints don't hurt but every muscle in my body seems to get stiffer when it is cold. There are days when I can barely stand straight thanks to the cold. Spring can't come soon enough!
