I've had lyme and whatever else came with it for almost 10 months now, and my eyes have always burned badly. Now I'm on some intense oral antibiotics and my eyes are burning and more tired than ever. Can someone please recommend something that has helped them?

Hey there... sorry to hear you got Lymed!

Bad pain anywhere should be checked out by a doctor. If it is your eyes it is especially important.

That said... many Lyme patients suffer from extremely dry eyes. Often.. which seems weird to me.. but often their eyes water too much if they are too dry... making you think they aren't dry.

AFTER seeing a doctor.. may I suggest keeping them lubricated with a NATURAL - no preservitives- eye drop?

No way I can say the pain is caused by dry eyes... I am not a doctor... but if the doc can't figure it out.. and some don't bother to measure it... that might help?

But doctor first.. ok?

Hi bernieb4,

I have had this to. When they burn or hurt, and you close them, does it seems to burn more? I think Tincup had a great idea with the drops.

Also, when eyes are burning, I think your eyes may need to rest. Just pull the shades and take a rest. Helps a little for me. Maybe put a damp cloth on them?

Must remember when symptoms flare up, pamper yourself. I always give symptoms a 3 day rule. If that symptom is not better in 3 days, then call Doctor.

Just my opinion and my advice.

Take care, hope you can find some relief.

tincup,
Could you recommend a natural eye drop I might try?

The eye soreness doesn't ease up with sleep..I'm sleeping a depressing amount already-I can't afford any more sleep.

I can't technically recommend any.. but I can say what I use.

I use Bion Tears. After using them I add a drop of Opcon-A on top.

Between the two they lubricate first (I ALWAYS do that first) and then the second step helps cut down on the achy/burning.

I've tried several of the other kinds of eye drops that have a thicker oil in them.. but it made me feel like I was looking through mayonaise. NOT comfortable at all for ME!

But they have helped many others.

But do see a doctor.

Have you had your pressure checked recently? This is a check for glaucoma. Glaucoma can cause pain as well as burning.

Hopefully, it's just "another Lyme thing".
