I got my Igenex results yesterday and after reading many posts here I accept my GPs Dx of Lyme with Igenex Positive IgG.
I had IgG 30 - +
31 - +
39 - IND
41 - ++
58 - ++
83-93 - +

IgM was only 31 IND and 41 IND

I had received a clinical DX of Lyme in Nov 05 and went on 18 months of ABX including 3 months of Mepron/azithromycin. (I first had symptoms in June 2001)

Pain symptoms returned and are worse than ever now with terrible burning pain all over my body just under my skin - also joint pain.

My question is about the Babs which is Negative for FISH and Negative for Screen, but Positive for Babesia Specific DNA. What does that mean?

Thank you,

Jeannie

Well looks like you can add Babesia to the list of things you've got.

Perhaps the Mepron/Zith has done a number on it.. but if you suspect you may have had it a while.. I wouldn't quit treating if you have symptoms.

I'm not a doctor.... and good luck!

RE: Babesia test results.

I realize now that I misread the results. Where I read "Positive for Babesia Specific DNA" it was actually the page following the actual results of negative. The phrase was just part of the explaination of results.
Thanks for your attention.

Hi,

Are you saying you are negative for Babesia then?

Just get back on antibiotics and start killing the lyme. It may take awhile to get back to where you were before stopping then, but then again

it MAY not, you may just start to get better right away.

Dont give up, at least you have a positive test, and you responded to antibiotics before.

From all I have read if you have had lyme about 15 years untreated, it can take about 5 years of antibiotics, something like this, but in that time frame you will be getting better.

Hope things turn for you.

Trish

Thank you for your words of adice and encouragement. We need that in this world of Lyme. It seems so isolating at times, so it is good to have these boards to come to.

Hi Jeannie,

You forgot to say if you had a positive Babesia test.

Did you have a positive Babesia test?

I think I saw you on Canlyme and you said you did not really respond to Mepron and Azithromycin, was this so?

I have 2 positive Babesia tests, and am seeing a new LLMD, I have already treated Babesia with Clindamycin and Quinine, but I think it was not long enough, or it was not really effective,

I feel it was effective, because when I went off it the dose was too strong, and I had been on it for 3 months, but I just could not go on, I was not really improving, but yet the herx was too strong, plus I had really bad ear ringing, and still have it,

from the Quinine, I think,

I am now seeing a new LLMD and he tested me again from IGENEX and I was positive for Babesia Duncani and on the FISH Babesia test, and positive again for lyme,

EVEN after 28 months of nonstop antibiotics for lyme and babesia,

This new LLMD wants me on Mepron and whatever else.

Hi Trish,

It turns out I did not test positive for Babesia. Sorry to hear about your battle. Testing positive 3 times is pretty clear. Maybe the Mepron will be more effective than the Clindamycin and Quinine although I remember my LLMD telling me it was as effective, but with more side effects. I did Mepron for 3 months so if I did have Babs it is long gone. Too bad the Mepron is so expensive, luckily it was covered by my insurer.
