Hi all -

Can herxing last for months? I started with pain in my right wrist a few months ago and now it is pretty severe pain.

The same type of pain is now in my ankles, other wrist, elbows and one knee.

I thought it might be herxing but since it is lasting so long I'm not so sure now.

After sitting for long periods of time it is hard to get up and start walking - I get worried that soon I might be somewhat crippled.

I thought herxing was short lived.

Nothing helps the pain - tylenol or ibuprofen.

I'm so scared that something serious is going on.

Thanks for listening.

OH yes....days, weeks, months, years. Pick one.

Are you eating a sugar-free diet?? Low carb?? Yeast can cause PAIN also.

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

Candida diet and elimination:

I'm not on a sugar-free diet.

Right now I don't think I could swallow everything on your list. I can't even get my antibotics down due to them getting stuck in my esophagus and I now have major burning there too.

Despite the burning sensation in my esopagus, I am always hungry when I get up from the dinner table. Its like I can't get enough to eat to satisfy me. I've NEVER EVER been like this.

My WHOLE body hurts. I'm oh so afraid that something major (besides the Lyme) is wrong with me. I'm freaking out.

I've never been in this much pain all over my body. I'm so worried I'm not going to be here much longer to be with my kids.

That's how bad I'm hurting. Every joint and muscle hurts in my body.

I can't afford to call Dr. C. and my family physician (although he believes I have Lyme) always wants to put me on steroids.

I just want to curl up and cry.

Could all of this really be from one little tick bite?

Sorry - I'm just really not having a good week.

M

Michele,

You really need to get something to help control the pain. Over the counter medications just don't touch Lyme pain.

Can you try to see a pain specialist? Zanaflex really helps with my muscle pain.

I hope you start feeling better.

hey michele- I spell mine with 2 L's.

It must be our name or something, because I also am always HUNGRY!!!! I can eat a full meal and im starved!!! I joke and say that Im going to enter one of those contests where you can win money for how many burgers/ steak you can eat.

But, its not really funny. I havent heard of many others with this symptom.

I also had a burning throat, its scary. If you are still eating sugar i would stop. Try to eat as natural as possible.

Lyme pain is rough, in that sometimes it is actually nerve pain.

Neurontin and zanaflex have helped me the most.

What do you usually eat?

The pain of Lyme disease has been found to be more severe than post-operative pain. I can attest to that fact!

"One little tick bite" can cause hell on earth, believe me.

Get rid of the sugar!

PS...You do not take EVERYTHING on that list!!! Those are examples of choices. "e.g. means 'for example.'"

I too have muscle &joint pain, I have random abdominal pain and my eyelid seems to be drooping on my left eye. I feel for you. I too am worried for myself and my kids. I hope you find some help. I am calling a LLMD this week and hope to get some relief myself. I was diagnosed as having lyme in 2001. I was on Doxcy for 21 days. Doc says I was cured and now all my symptoms seem to have reappeared with a few twists. It's so frustrating I know, Hang in there.

Are you on abx for Lyme?

It would be up to your LLMD to decide whether it's a herx or if it's a worsening of symptoms because you're on the wrong meds.

The sugar free diet is a must! I drank smoothies made from undenatured whey protein and frozen berries when I had trouble eating.

Michele, I know the wrists and ankle feelings well. I used to have it all the time. Sometimes it was every day. I used to say it felt like someone had a rope around my wrists and ankles.

They, whoever they were, used to pull the rope tighter and tighter sometimes. It sure felt that way at least.

I no longer have that horrible feeling daily or so often anymore. I might have it a couple, three days a month for the last 18 mths.

I've been experiencing this for the last 10 yrs. I still don't know for sure what it was? Lyme? Bartonella? Some other bad guy?

I believe it is the lyme bacteria, but that's based on a history of myself and the long list of sx that have came and gone and come up again sometimes.

Sometimes after sitting I also look like I'm 95 yrs old trying to get up and moving. I'm no where close to that age. I'm still too young to feel and look that age.

Don't worry. It does get better with time. Much longer process than we are lead to believe sometimes. It can take months or years to undo some of these sx caused by lyme & company.

Some people have completely altered their eating and life style and many other things to get improvement. It's just the way it is.

Pam

In the beginning with me it lasted aboout 3 months then after that I would only herx every 28 to 34 days.
I suggest b12 shots my intrinsic factor is gone which means I cant absorb b12 which means aching continualy. Get a b12 shot and see if it helps.
