I'm going to doc's to have them do some labs for lyme and it's coinfections. What tests should I have run. I know everyone here insists on us using a llmd. I want to get things rolling and want to have tests done if possible with my primary for now.

i'll help get you started!
get a WESTERN BLOT IGM AND IGG blood test drawn on MON./TUES. ONLY and sent to IGENEX IN PALO ALTO, CALIF. www.igenex.com
you need your drs. signature/date/diagnosis code FOR REIMBURSEMENT purposes on blood test UNLESS YOU ARE ON MEDICARE .... FREE THEN!
we suggest FRY LABS IN ARIZONA to have co-infection testing done which is cheaper for those paying OUT OF POCKET; same quality as igenex.
they do blood screens? sorry, i can't remember names, but this is getting you started.
all my info is at home; LOST my internet service until tues. pm when they can repair.
at library with NO files, info.... UP we go for more answers! good luck!

Momo4, sure can understand you wanting to start the process with your regular doc. But regular doc will probably be using a regular old lab.
My primary doc uses a lab that wouldn't know lyme disease & company if it bite them in the ***, you know?
So what bettyg was telling you about the labs that know lyme & company, usually, but no always can find some bad guys or the antibodies the lab needs to be looking for.
Lyme testing is typically the ELISA test. If that part of test says positive, they proceed with the Western Blot part of the test. Common practice in todays lab world.
Remember they are looking for lyme bacteria antibodies in your tube of blood. There has to been something present in that one tube or 2-3 tubes of blood for them to see. Sometimes the body doesn't produce the anti-bodies for lyme bacteria?????
As far as the co-infections or & company as I call them, the lab must be looking for the right strain of bacteria or virus or anti-bodies in your tube.
Sometimes the lab having the right strain to compare your blood and strains to is not the same. Like comparing an apple to orange in the blood?
I hope that makes sense to you. Good luck with your primary doctor. Insurance likes it better when you are dealing with primary docs.
