There is this discussion about Bartonella using magnesium to make a biofilm which protects them from being killed by abx.

It is also said that Levaquin can cause tendon damage especially when you are low in magnesium.

My problem: After 4 years on abx my stomach is very sensible and I feel that I don't have many ``antibiotic shots'' anymore. So I want to take the gun that is most likely to kill Bart and not waste the little stomach lining that I have left with less- or non-effective abx.

Before I started abx I was always low in magnesium (cramps in feet). After being on longterm abx I didn't need magnesium anymore - looks like the abx kept Bart somewhat under control. But now, I'm off abx since 6 months (mainly due to stomach reasons) and my cramps are back - which means, I'm low in magnesium again.

Now, I don't dare to take the Levaquin with these low magnesium levels because I like my tendons unruptured as they are now.

My dilemma:

Do I take the Levaquin without magnesium and risk tendon ruptures?
Or do I load myself with magnesium before and while on Levaquin and risk treatment failure?

Therefore my question: did anyone get rid of Bartonella with Levaquin while taking magnesium at the same time?

Yes, I know about all the horrible things that Levaquin might do to me - please don't tell me more, I'm already scared to death.

Thanks,

Gabrielle

I supplemented magnesium before, during, and after bart treatment with Levaquin. Levaquin worked miracles for me.

I'm about to start this same treatment. My doc highly recommended the mag with the Levaquin. Only to be sure to take them at seperate times with at least 4 hours in between. Something about the Mag binding the Levaquin and not working. I'm pretty much at my wits end [bonk] so I'm willing to try. Good luck to you
