Just started Biaxin/Doxy twice a day.

The NP who treats Lyme in my area is following Dr. B's guidelines.

Did anyone start out this way? [confused]

I do have to say that I am at the end of my ducks Doxy 2 week cure all dose and I do have some symptom relief of the arm numbness. [woohoo]

I guess what I am worried about is what I will feel like with two antibiotics and what will happen when I am finished?

She also wants me to take Probiotics and some type of enzyme ( haven't read that far into her info sheet)

Also, magnesium citrate, Fish oil or DHA oil, multivitamin and maybe CoQ10?

I would appreciate anyone's two cents. [Smile]

Thanks!!!!!

I've got 1.5 cents... will that do? Some days I have no sense though.. so do be warned.

[Big Grin]

That seems to be a pretty nifty combo of meds nu... and a strong bacteria fighter.

I have to agree the "supplements" will be needed.. most of them at least... and do watch for any yeast problems.

Don't let anyone try to convince you that the probiotics will keep the yeast from being a problem. T'ain't so.

To fight yeast you need a good diet and meds right away if you start noticing it.

I can't say how hard a herx you might have.. but I am sure if it is bad you will let us know.

[Wink]

That isn't the best answer, I'm sure.. but we really have no way of knowing.

As for what you will feel like when it is over?

Hopefully MUCH better... and HOPEFULLY good as new. But I really can't say.

But we will wish for the best, right?

[Big Grin]

nu, i started out that way too but it was PULSED; meaning:

3 days on doxy; 2 days off; then
3 days of biaxin; 2 days off; then doxy again and this went on for 20 months.

no one stress probiotics when i started; so that is a MUST!!

you will know a herx when it happens! best wishes; just know the spirochetes are being killed off when this happens.

if it gets so bad, go to ER! we all react differently. good luck. [group hug] [kiss]

That's also the way I started treatment. Plaquenil was added after a couple of months. It is a combination that works well.

Were you warned about avoiding sunshine?

Thanks Tin , I needed a laugh! Somedays I forget to do that.... [Big Grin]

For someone who was pretty healthy before Lyme, it is hard for this disease to not consume your life. [dizzy]

I too think this is a pretty potent combo. I can't imagine taking doxy and biaxin 500mg together twice a day. I sure hope that I don't [puke]

Hurtingramma, did you take both antibiotics at the same time twice a day?

Yes, I was warned about the sunshine. I hate that it is almost Spring and Summer....

I am a Florida girl who grew up in the sun. Before this I waterskied almost every weekend.

We have a place at a lake and go all the time.

I will really have to be careful. Thanks for the warning.

I am going to start my first dose tomorrow, I wanted to be home instead of work in case I have some type of bad GI reaction.

I guess it won't hurt not to take anything for a day or two.... [confused]

Maybe the little spiro's will think I am done with them..............WRONG [Smile]

Bettyg ,She said something about pulsing later but now she wants to just give em' heck....

She said if I have a reaction, I could back off and only take 1 of each once a day and then work back up......

I will keep everyone posted.....Thanks!!

You guys and girls keep me sane!!!

I hope to be the same beacon of hope to others that you all have been to me!

I took LOTS of Doxy and Biaxin together.... along with Plaquenil at one point too.... in addition to several other Abx.... was about 1.5 years worth total.

In short, yeast IS a major issue (I have it bad now) and the sun also is a big problem. My face and hands got TORCHED while on Doxy and it didn't take a lot of sun exposure either.
