I take tablets 800 mg/160 mg.

My doctor was not so sure about the dose and I take 4 tablets per day.

Do I take too much or just right?

I took 2 tabs/day. Seemed to work fine. Up until recently I hadn't heard of anybody taking more of it...

My husband (175 lb) was prescribed 2 800-mg tablets a day. He made it up to 1.5 tabs a day. This is unusual for him; usually he can work up to the full dose that is prescribed.

My impression is that Bactrim can be powerful stuff, depending on what it's hitting.

And, like all other meds, different dosages may be needed for different people. Our LLMD's philosophy is to start slow, "ramp up," and back down if the herxing gets too intense.

So, along with all else, listen to your body...

I was perscribed 2 800-160 twice a day. Yesterday I did 2 half tablets. One at 3pm and one at 3am, I always get up randomly at 3 anyways. Well this morning at 10 I took another half so I could take them at 10am and 10pm.
So for the hours of 10-3 I will have fluxuating levels more close to a whole tablet. Its 1 right now and let me tell u from 10 on it shot my anxiety up 10x! but I'm containing it okay. Wouldn't so again tho. I'm staying with 2 halfs 12hrs apart for now.

--------------------
Current taking: Bactrim DS 3x Daily, Doxy 400mg 1x Daily, Rifampin 450mg (ramping up to 600mg) 1x Daily, Compounded Nystatin 150MU Caps 1x Daily, Plus supplements to come later.
