I just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant unexpectedly. I had an appointment with my LLMD who consulted with Dr. J during the appt. Dr. J recommended 1000-2000 mg Ceftin and 500 mg Zithromax per day throughout the entire pregnancy.
It is such a high dose, but I trust Dr. J. Does anyone have experience with this? If you have been on either or both, please share your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I guess Dr. J said Amoxy is not as effective as once thought so it isn't his protocol anymore. This is secondhand info through my doc who talked to him, so not sure of the details.

You might want to check out the yahoo group named preglyme.
I am member and most of the women take 500 mg of Ceftin twice a day and 500 mg of Zithromax once a day.
I believe amoxicillin is primarily only being used during breastfeeding at this point. I am not sure why, maybe what you said about being less effective is the reason.
Many of their LLMD's work with Dr. J as well. Good luck with your pregnancy, and congratulations!
