I've been on orals for about 3 mos after being on iv rocephin for 6 mos. and oral zithromax

500mg. Thank God, symptoms have subsided for now. I went to my llmd today and had a fever of

nearly 100. That's high for me- my normal is 96.1-97. My wbc count was a little low - 3.2

instead of 3.8 and thats off antibiotics. My

glands were a little swollen. She told me to continue my ceftin. I actually stopped my orals

when I ran out 2 weeks ago and was feeling ok. It felt good to give my body a break of

medicine after being on for so long. Has anyone gotten fever and swollen glands from root canal?

I'm back on ceftin and have to see her in a few weeks. Just curious if this happened to anyone.

I've previously tested positive for lyme and bartonella.

Thanks.

I had a root canal on 3/18 and yesterday, 3/27, had 3 teeth drilled and prepared for crowns.

I have had a lump come up behind my left ear since the dental work and it hurts off and on. I was given PCN after the root canal for "4" days.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

It could be that the root canal treatment unleashed some bacteria into your bloodstream and your body was trying to fight it off. There is an underlying infection in the canal and if some of these bacteria infiltrate your immune system could react.

It doesn't matter that you are on antibiotics. When I was on IV Rocephin one of my teeth developed an abscess which I could not understand because I thought the Rocephin would have killed any bacteria in my body but apparently I was wrong. Antibiotics cannot kill every kind of bacteria-they are targeted against certain types of bacteria.

In my case I had to take Zithromax for the absess because the Rocephgin wasn't effective against whatever bacteria was in my tooth.
