Figured out what was causing my herx reaction. Forgot i just started taking this juice a few days ago.

Because it tasted so good I was probably drinking to much. BOY does this stuff work.

It started my real 1st herx reaction. Although very painful atleast i know something is getting killed.

Time to reduce the amout of juice i take daily. But holly cow did it help.

Wait--does it function as an antimicrobial? I thought

it was just antiinflammatory/tasty? Of course I suppose it's

considerably easier to kill the bugs once you

get your inflammation in check...

Anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-malarial to name a few.

Dr James Duke has a long list of benefits here:

Steel....guess we know where that herx came from now!! [Big Grin]

You should always go easy on it in the beginning. Like maybe 2 oz a day for the first week.

If you have a cheap brand you could probably drink the whole bottle in the first few days and it wouldn't matter though.

Just bought some Thai Mangosteen Juice at BJs. On the bottle it says to take 1 fl oz/day....Not bad tasting. [Razz]

Does this have the same benefits as the above?

Very doubtful. You really LIKE the taste of that? I haven't tried that one, but I've heard stories. [Wink]

TuTu,

I don't mind the taste really.

I figure I'd block my nose if it was bad. Hope the benefits are worth the $$$ (not cheap.)

I took the mangosteen for months and herxed like crazy. I stopped for awhile and then started again and I am still getting a herx.

I am sure it crosses the blood brain barrier because I have had big neuro herxes. I think the stuff is great!

That link to Dr. Duke was interesting, the compound in Mangosteen that seems to have beneficial effects on everything is none other than vitamin C...

It doesn't even have that much Vitamin C. Look at other medical abstracts.

PubMed:

"xanthones + mangosteen"

or "xanthones + mangostana"

I would also like to know what brand mangosteen you use. I have not been financially able to see a LLMD as yet so I use things I read about

here to help control some of the symptoms. My husband was injured in November 07 and has had 3 major back surgeries and is now disabled.

Maybe when he gets better I can see a doctor.

Thanks

Hi Steel, could you publicly post the brand of the mangosteen juice? It's all right, no one will get in trouble, you're not selling it, IDSA isn't going to attack the brand.

Thanks, i want some too!

I started taking it about two weeks ago.

Missed one dose, and I will never repeat that error.

Definitely makes a difference, and that is at two one ounce doses per day.

My problem is that it tastes SO yummy that I drink too much.

I must restrain myself!

I give it a big thumbs up.

Make sure you read the ingredients. I know the type I was drinking (Xango)had a mixture of juices with it and I found out I am allergic to cherries and it has cherry juice. No wonder I felt horrible on it.

Vemma has added ingredients that I would not touch--such as metals like silver, gold, titanium etc.

I am not saying these do not help some people, but they aren't for me. Hiker53

I drink once 1 bottle and boy I herxed crazy.

That happened before I knew I had lyme and was doing cleansings and juicing and once I took the whole bottle in a DAY thinking that would boost my immune system.
I was shaking and shivering and thought I had heart atack.

Later When I found I had lyme and company .....I knew it was working.

ONLY the original XANGO does that .

That's amazing. Cancer patients drink one bottle a day for 21 days. Jump starts things.

Steelbone.. Did you ever go back to taking 6 oz a day?

I drink the Ultra mangosteen brand, with 70 minerals added to it from ancient Utah seabeds. You can do an online search for the companies that sell it.

It stopped all inflammatory eye symptoms, stopped bleeding gums, cleared out my sinuses, and keeps my intestines regular. I don't think I've ever herxed on it.
