Hi Guys,

It's Jen, have'nt been on for along time.

I had some serious issues after oxygen, lost gallbladder in middle of Chico Hyperbaric, then staph (very, very resistant and a bad relapse of ALL NEURO SYMPTOMS.

Went on Primaxin...nothing.

Went back on Rochephin ( a total of a damn year in a half on IV!!!!!!!!!) and my claw hand started going away the FIRST DAY!!!!!!!!

SO I think I am getting somewhat better again...making slow progress.

My babesia tierters are down but found out I have a real immunne deficiency problem. Make's sense..I had ITP when I was kid and have all the active viruses right now.

I need IGIV but was denied. I am going to do a trial run (PAY CASH!!!) for 3 months and see what it does...

I have been recieving a Myers cocktail that has given me some of my life back. I do it every week. I LOVE IT!!! It has helped SOOOO MUCH!!

I have even started driving again and stared physical therapy a month ago. WOOO HOO!!!

Loads of pain med still though..but I am functioning better then I have in a long time.

My question though to you all...AM I CRAZY??

I am moving from the CITY ( San Francisco ) to MENDOCINO COUNTY!!!!! (Willits) UHHH!

I am making my dog a outside pup (both of them), spraying and cutting down oaks. I will be living on a culdasack and the front of the house is all CLEAR...

Yet, I am still scared. I am sad my dog will be a outside dog and almost would rather give her away. She is only 15 pounds but will have my boyfriends beagle to hang with.

My boyfriend gave me a ring everyone...and has come around.

Should I move to Mendocino?? I have a dream home up there waiting for me...can I do it without being reinfected???

I miss you guys...let's talk soon.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me not jump off the golden gate in the last year in a half.

Jennifer

Dear Jen,

I am probably the exception to the rule here.

I have 7 dogs who are inside/outside dogs.

I keep Advantix on all of them.

I don't have a yard so to speak due to the construction for my new house,

But my dogs occasionally wander down towards the river and high grass

And have come home with a tick or two....

I check them every day. Most ticks are dead.

My dogs will not being living in my new house...self explanatory I think. [shake]

I adore them, but don't want them ruining my house. It is not because I am afraid of ticks.

I think the best we can do is be very active in prevention....

Spray the yard....Keep our dogs treated.

Unfortunately ticks don't just live in the woods. [shake]

That would be easy.

I do live in the country. I have 12/13 neighbors with Lyme.

My fear is probably my reality. I will probably get bit again in my lifetime.

I am just going to do the best I can.

I just hope that I see the little booger this time and maybe....have a bulls-eye rash.

I can really appreciate your concerns...

I guess, for me...I know Lyme is everywhere.

Some places more than others.

The best you can do is to actively try to prevent ticks in your yard,

On your dogs and on you.

Hope this is a good move for you.

Congrats on the ring! [Smile]

Glad to hear you are making some progress again.

Sending you prayers and positive thoughts

And asking God to Cover you with His Divine Protection.

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi Jen. Congrats...keep up the vitamin/mineral IVs. Gamma helps me, it should help you. If you can afford it (and your guy seems generous!) Dr. Younger in NYC has been able to get IVIG for lymies, thru his specialized testing.

Put a good fence all around your yard. Though deer can jump fences, it helps. Don't plant a garden since they like to eat flowers. Check yourself for ticks and take a shower when coming in from outside. Etc etc. Mostly it would be lack of vigilance over time that would put you at risk imo.

I have to agree with everyone. I have lived on the same (rural)piece of property for 25 years, always having had 2 or 3 indoor/outdoor dogs.I have never been sick until now, and there were ALWAYS ticks galore here.

I am pretty sure it was lack of vigilance that finally got me bitten. I am so much more careful now.

As Geneal said, I may get bitten again. But I love to be outside, and being outdoors has helped me get better.

So, I feel like I want to tell you to be careful, but ENJOY your life.

Good luck
Kris

Hey congratulations on the ring! I assume you said yes? [Smile] JK.
What is ITP I wonder?

I think you can avoid being reinfected. Just be vigilant. Avon makes a great combo sunblock/tick repellant from the Skin So soft line I think. Works great.

We seem to be having a "rash" of engagements this week. See General Support for more!!! [Smile]

I think if you're very careful and build a fence [wooden to keep out raccoons, etc], use Advantix on your dogs, you'll do fine.

Congratulations on the engagement and on feeling so much better!!

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Yes, I think the warmer weather (I currently live in foggy, cold, rainy depressing area of San Francisco) and the slow pase of country life will help me get better...if nothing else make my pain less. The heat always does!!!

Oxygenbabe, I am starting IVIG in the next few weeks...my boyfriend gave me the go ahead this night!! YEAH!!! Cause I have a REAL immune deficiency showing up on my labs!!!

CD-57, ITP is something not all recover froma and go into remission from. Espeacially if you are an adult.

I accquired this (an auto-immune disease where your blood does'nt clot and you can hemmorage to death)but I think I was given IVIG then when I was 4 and had a spontaneous remission.

I was told it was triggered by a virus or cold and my immune just was'nt strong.

That is why I am so frightned now...

I have at least 5-6 active viruses that have not responded to viral treatment (3 different kinds for a year in a half) and have had the resistant staph and H. Pylori come back on me.

Then there is the bells palsy twice and horrible neurapathy pain (know I am spelling this wrong..but it's late or shall I say early!!)

Anyone know what happen to Sarah (California Lyme?)

Thanks everyone. Fence will be put up prior to me moving in. The outside will be sprayed as well as the inside.

I am currently looking for something called a Tom Trap, my LLMD told me about this...they give off CO2 and attract ticks...they go there and make it so there is less chance of them hitch a ride on a human and my dogs.

Yes, the dogs will officially becoming outdoor animals. It breaks my heart but in a year I will move back to the city.

Hopefully I will move back recovered, espeacially with the IVIG coming through now.

Who ever has prayed for me or held me in deep and honest hope...thank you. I am truly blessed to such support on this board. I always have been able to come here...and get what I need.

Thanks again for all your input.

Jennifer

Glad you're doing better and that your boyfriend is being very supportive. It is really disgraceful that your insurance is denying IVIG with your diagnosis.
Is it Bluecross? Will you still be seeing the same LLMD in the Peninsula now that you're moving farther north?

Jen,
Calif Lyme was being harrassed by someone on another board and had to leave in order to protect her family.

Hopefully, she can come back later!! We all miss her!

You may be able to find the Tom Trap online. I know when it first came out several years ago, I saw it online.

Good luck and keep us posted!! [group hug]
