well, even the basic science about almost everything related to Lyme and tick borne diseases has yet to be done, so no intellectually honest person can tell you for sure whether or not Lyme etc. is transmitted by sex.
if you are concerned you have Lyme, get tested.
I'm not sure why it is relevant where your wife receives treatment, or by whom, but maybe her doctor is the place to start with your questions.

I've been completely REORGANIZING it; NOT DONE YET; but up to page 60 of 112 pages since I have now created a TABLE OF CONTENTS WITHOUT PAGE NUMBERS since it changes DAILY!

most of mine is very DETAILED info on certain thigns: SSDI/ss diability insurance benefits; FINANCIAL BURDENS; about IGENEX blood testing, symptoms lists for the basic types, NOIR, no infrared SUNGLASSES, etc. and how to use this board!

Others have posted helpful information, but I'll go on the record and say that the LLMDs I consult with do not believe the infection is sexually transmitted. There is some evidence for congenital (mother-child) transmission, but the theories for sexual transmission is suspect at best. These LLMDs see many long term sexual relationships where only one partner is showing symptoms and/or comes up positive on a diagnostic test.
In cases where both partners are positive, it is most likely that since they share common living quarters and activities, they were both bitten by an insect vector.
In a personal anecdote, I had unprotected sex while unknowingly having lyme (diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome etc...) in a long term relationship. My significant other at the time has not shown any symptoms of illness. and it has been almost six years since any possible "infection" could have occurred. Not scientific, but just for peace of mind.

I asked my LLMD about this and if I'm remembering correctly he said that he read that animals seem to transfer lyme to their mates by licking each others urine rather than by sexual contact.
I can't say what study he got this from, but that's what he shared with us.

I think i read the studies a few years ago. I don't have the references now, but what i found was a couple of studies with 8 guinea pigs or something for a fairly short time, maybe a couple of months or something.

There is also evidence that much of the population already carries the Lyme bacteria but has not developed the disease or at least its symptoms have not been recognized. Lida Mattman's difficulty in finding uninfected blood for controls in her research, for instance. The implication is that anybody could be carrying it.
We do best if we can get on with our lives without adding more needless worries.

To expand on what you post, remember that at any given time, any one of us probably would come up positive looking for antibodies ( for tuberculosis, aspergilis, strep, staph, and a ton of other bacteria, viruses, and fungii, because we've been exposed to them in our lifetime.
