TUTU's right....
The probenicid is to keep the pennicilin working longer...
at a higher level so that once you break out the spirochete from the cyst, with the metronidazole, the pennicillin can kill it....
the doxy is for, perhaps, Ehrlichia, or perhaps the L-form (no cell wall) morph of the spirochete or...
...co- infection, one of many that can come along with the spirochete.
Soooo you just put things in your mouthy without asking you doctor what they do???
I'm sure even a pharmacist can tell you what all these things are for as, it pertains to lyme disease....cept maybe the flagile!
You have to be more careful then that when taking care of yourself....
Please be careful....

I think it's natural to want to verify that your doctor is prescribing the right things for what he (or she) is saying they are.... or you are going in the right direction with your treatment. This disease is so up and down that I envy you if you never had any doubts as if you were on the right track with your abx combo's. However, I should of worded my post differently. I do indeed know what my doctor is trying to treat me for with this combo. I am very careful as to know what I am taking. What I was trying to get was info as to if this combo is hitting any other co-infections unintentionally. See, I'm trying to match my symptom's to possible co-infections.... matching symptoms with the reaction (herx of symptoms/flairs) when I take a new combo... that's all. I just feel that there is a piece of the puzzle that's missing.
I did get my answer, so thank you.
