I have recently made a switch from doxy to minocycline due to photosensitivity, started 5 days ago.

My prescribed mino dosage is 100mg 3xday. LLMD PA said to ramp up to it, "as it might make you dizzy"...nothing else. I did 2xd for 3 days or so, yesterday I did 3x...and jeez do I feel like hell...mental state has gone downhill, big-time fog, trouble following thru with tasks...I sure hope it's herx.

Do many others have experience with minocycline?

Hi,
Same thing just happened to me. I am on day 7 of 300 mg mino. I was also feeling quite horrible the first several days. Slowly, I am feeling better. I heard to give it two weeks to calm down. I'm also taking 50-100 mg of B-6 a day to help with the dizzyness.

Hang in there.

I just started back on mino .... 100 mg. two times per day.

I've been a little spaced out .... it's bringing the fun back! LOL Without this cognitive stuff, this disease is all about pain and fatigue .... it's the cognitive stuff that makes it fun. [lol]

I thought 200 mg daily of Mino was the "standard dose".

Hubby is only taking 100 mg 3 times per week.

When hubby starts a new med I always start him at 1/4 the usual dose or even less. Usually don't increase dose for 5 or 7 days.

Hubby would be flat in the bed -- at home if he was lucky -- more likely in the hospital -- if he took 300 mg of Mino a day.

I thought Mino was in the same drug class as Doxy and also caused photosensitivity?

You are herxing --no Fun but its a Good sign

Mino dose is lower than with Doxi -
200mg and up

Mino is stronger than doxi for amount taken --

Wow, 300mg daily...pretty hefty.

My daughter herxed HUGE. I had to buy gelatin capsules and split the 100mg powder to 50mg capsules.

She started with 50mg twice a week, then ramped up from there. I think it took almost two months to get to 200mg daily.

Kill the bug, not the patient.
