Last week LLMD suggested to go back on amox and then start Flaygl. I herxed really badly and was in the ER with fever too high and it would not go down (plus other awful symptoms). I stopped amox since I herxed after only 1 1/2 days of being on it. My plan was to go back on after the herx.

Today, in a phone consult (on speakerphone) with my PCP and LLMD, he (LLMD) suggested going on IV Claforan. This was never suggested or written down in his protocol for me.

Any ideas why this would be a better choice?

The idea of a picc line really overwhelms me!

I responded well last time to orals and was symptom free really quickly. However, 6 months later, it's back.

Don't fret. A Picc line is so little touble at all. Many many people here including myself have had them. They're prolly suggesting it because IV ABX generally are more stronger than orals. Its a great alternative, and if you get both, IV + Orals I'd say your really on the right path.

Try to be calm about the herxing. Your body has become accustom to your infection and it freaks out a bit when the Lyme gets treated. Its usually a sign the ABX are working. Just remain calm and try to notice which combos work the best for you.
