It's rough stuff! My LLMD allowed me to back off the meds when the herxing was too severe.
Take it easy!! Let us know if the quercetin and lemon works for you!

Mino packs a mean herx. Do all the detox you can think of... Might try adding in epsom salt baths, see if that helps a bit too.
I'm on the same dose and it was a killer at first. Now I'm seeing the benefits and having more and more good days. I hope you can stick through it, and it gives you the same experience.
Hang in there.

My daughter had to start out in small doses and work up.
It packed a big wollop, but she made the most advances on it.
She is having horrid spine and brain pain right now, and we can't figure out why.
She doesn't want to give up the mino. But, she will have to take a break for a bit to get her spine to settle down.

Thanks My spine neck shoulders knee all firing off pretty good now. I hope I don't have bart coming back on top of all this, getting a lot of thought trouble and general tremor. Add to that the thought of surgery and I'm having a real good time. lm

I did mino for 2 months first to prevent worst herx reactions on the riocephin.
After the first week or so of the mino I had my first herx that scared me to death.
Hubby is gone all the time and I am alone with 2 small kids so I called some friends over to "hold my hand" because I was so scared.
I would get these waves of heat going from my toes up my body then out the top of my head and back down again. It was not a panic attack though seemed like the worst panic attack I have ever had. My heart would pound like crazy. A few times I was seconds away from calling 911. I didn't wnat to make a "scene" and scare my kids though. Dumb huh? I had and EP study last year and got the all clear my heart was ok so that's what I kept telling myself.
I know I have Lyme in my heart so my theory is that it is killing the bugs there.
I had some refills left on my beta blocker so I put myself back on that to lower my heart rate and I started zoloft. I would also get flushed in my face at times, like a hot flash.
When I told my Dr this he was not happy that I didn't call him right away. Herxes can be deadly, not to scare you.
I did a month on Riocephin and back on the mino now for a little over a week and it hasn't happened again yet.
When I first went on it it was like it awakened all my pain. I also became so depressed and anxious that I wanted to jump out of my skin.
I had to back off the mino because I was having all kinds of suicidal thoughts. My LLMD said it's because mino is very good at crossing the blood-brain barrier and killing off all the Lyme in there.
It's brutal but it works!

Mino is kicking my butt! I was started on 200 mg twice a day. I just started this on Friday, and have been down since then. I'm so dizzy, and all of my symptoms, especially brain fog, depression, and fasiculations in my feet have flaired dramatically. I called my LLMD, and the nurse said to give it a week, and amp up my probiotics. I'm hoping I can tolerate this!

I am relieved to hear that at least some others have had psychological herx symptoms on mino....just today I am dealing with absolutely crushing bouts of depression...I had to leave work as I just could not hang...I've toughed out other stuff but not this...sudden headaches, and pain out the wazoo in several sectors. Tendon pain that may/not be related to earlier levaquin rx has added to my already amped-out anxiety level.
Anyway, I think I wrote before (tho I can't remember for sure) that I hope this is herx and not bartonella coming back on me.
Oh yeah I dropped back to 100mg/day as it seemed like I was headed toward obvlivion.

I'm still here and still herxing on mino. I'm on day 11. I was laid up all last week. Before that, I did a month of doxy with just a mild herx between days 10-16. The mino herx is slowly subsiding.
This is a tough one!

The psychological herx is just brutal, like the world is ending. Physical similar. I can only imagine what a 'full' dose might do to me.

Kelmo - trying to send you a p/m...your box is full. This is important regarding your daughters spinal/brain issues on mino. Please clear for messages, I will try again later.

I found if I STAY on mino too long, (over a month or so) I NEVER loose the pains. I think autoimmunity starts kicking in for me. Not worried enough to stop mino forever, but seems tetras cause me pain that wont stop until I stop it. and mino was the worst. And best herxer.

The pain on mino was bad for me, but the psychological stuff was much worse.
I had never been so low, and it didn't help that I was going through a divorce--I actually thought of suicide. Really scary stuff!
I got so scared I stopped cold turkey until I could talk to my llmd. I'm now up to 200 mg and so far it's not as bad...

- I just posted this on a similar thread and it may help here. Good luck with this.
-----------------
the problem with mino is not so much die-off as it's ototoxic - and vestibular/balance problems are very common (and can create nausea and weakness from a off-balance feeling)
some people do better than others, but if one has serious inner reactions, you should talk to your doctor about that.
Vitamin B-6 has been used to help subdue that and NAC is hopeful to offset, too, although not proven.
This thread has many links that may be of help regarding ototoxic drugs or over the counter products.
It could be that you are also taking another product that is ototoxic, such as aspirin, aspartame/nutrasweet or MSG and the combination with mino is doubly hard.
[Antivertiginous action of vitamin B 6 on experimental minocycline-induced vertigo in man]
[Article in German]
Claussen CF, Claussen E.
Neurootologie, Universitts-HNO-Klinik Wrzburg.
By means of a former investigation it has been proved equilibriometrically that the application of 7 X 100 mg minocycline may induce a central equilibrium dysregulation of the brainstem type.
It was the purpose of this study to further assure that the minocycline induced brainstem vertigo is due to a destabilization of a supervisory gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic loop from the archeocerebellum upon the pontomedullary vestibular regulating pathways.
As it is pharmacologically known that pyridoxine is essential for the synthesis of GABA, an inhibitory CNS neurotransmitter, (2)
2 separate double blind trials on 20 healthy young persons each were carried out after the intake of 7 X 100 mg minocycline during 3 days with and without 7 X 40 mg pyridoxine simultaneously.
These trials were checked against an additional placebo or initial non drug investigation. In all the 40 test persons it could be proved that the amount of vertigo and nausea symptoms was increased significantly due to the application of minocycline only.
However, when combining minocycline with vitamin B 6, the vertigo and nausea symptoms as well as the nystagmus signs from the monaural and the binaural vestibular ocular tests as well as (the)
the vestibular spinal signs from the craniocorpography recordings of the stepping and the standing procedures were remarkably reduced.
. . .
The same holds for the vestibular vegetative reactions, measured by the simultaneous electrocardiography during the vestibular tests.
All the equilibriometric tests applied showed a significant destabilization under the influence of a pure minocycline loading.
