Has anyone ever had a bone scan done?

Does it definitively detect the bone problems related to jaw deterioration from teeth??

I had a DEXA bone scan of my hip and spine.

Never heard of one for the jaw.

Full body bone scan.

Hoping to explain the pain.

Especially in jaw. To see if I need to pull the tooth....partly. If nothing shows in the bone, maybe I just need to redo the root canal.

To see any infection or necrosis or what have you. The dr said if there is inflammation it will show up on the bone scan.

I also did one of those cancer tests for antibodies, came back elevated. So if there is something there, the body scan would find it.

But my main intention is directly related to jaw.

As well as weakening pelvic bone.

turtle, do you have osteoporosis/osteopenia and taking FOSAMAX, sp, for it?

fosamax has proven to destroy the jaw! especially if you have bad teeth ... my pcp gave a 1 hr. talk about osteoporosis 2 wks. ago, and mentioned the problems they've recently found w/jaws and fosamax!

good luck to you! [group hug] [kiss]
