I finished up a 3 month round of Biaxin and then started Ceftin. After 10 days or so, I don't feel like it's doing anything for me. I was on a slow downward slide before I started the Ceftin and just keep sinking. Brain fog and tiredness, mostly.

What was your experience with Ceftin? Just curious.

Doc is switching me to Omnicef.

Ceftin was the first abx I was ever on to treat lyme. At that point, the dx was clinical so my LLMD wanted to get me on something.

I was on for six weeks before I switched to Bicillian shots. Neither of those worked for me --s it turned out I apparently have bart that won't go away too easily.

--------------------
dx in Dec 2003
tested 2x positive for bart
Lightly Chelating
3 weeks off abx and 1 week on:

10 day course a month: Plaq/Ceftin/Rifampin/Biaxin with Tindamax on last two days

What is the Ceftin dose and why are you only one one antibiotic at a time? To treat Lyme correctly you have to be on aggressive therapy tat will target all forms of the bacteria, plus treatment for co-infections!

Example: I took 3,000 mg/Ceftin per day along with 2,000 mg/Biaxin per day, 1.2 MU Bicillin LA 2-3x per week and then added pulsed Flagyl.

Make sure your treatment is being administered correctly!

Wow! That's some seriously heavy duty dosing. I don't think my body could handle that. I'll check with my doc about doubling up on the ABX. That has not been a part of our treatment protocol, except with Mepron. But I'm not to that point yet.

Ceftin was the first drug I used when beginning treatment-400 mg 2x day. As soon as I started it I felt great but only lasted for 2 months. After the 2 mo relief I starting feeling worse and worse-worse then before beginning treatment. I suppose its the herx reaction. Since then I switched LLMDs and am now on a few different high dosed antibiotcs.
