Hey everyone, Finally some good news from me.
I saw the LLMD today Dr. E in New Jersey. She is wonderfull.
By the time I left the office she told me I did infact have "late stage Lyme" and possibly Bart.
She is sending my blood off to be tested, I believe through IGENEX.
She started me on Ceftin. What should I expect from this?
She also gave me several supplements to take twice a day.
I hope I can afford to keep seeing her. I am still working on getting the military to pay for this. Hopefully they will after they find out another doctor has diagnosed me.
In one visit she accomplished what a dozen doctors have not been able to do in the last 3 months.
Really I just need to know what to expect from this antibiotic.
thanks for any input or experiences you might have.

That's great. Good luck getting the miltary to pay or reimburse you.
One civiliam MD put me om 4800mg yes, 48 three 000s of Acyclovir thinking my MS type symptoms we from the herpes (cold sore)virus.
The VA said I was on a toxic level. The civilian pharmacist looked it up and it wasn't even close to toxic.
They're just so burocracy bound. now my VA pcp says there is no way they would go for the treatments I'm on.

Hi proudtoserve,
I'm glad you saw an LLMD. There are various antibiotics used for Lyme /TBI's and ceftin is one I'm not familiar with. I've read about others here prescribed ceftin.
You're on your way!
Maybe the military will pay, maybe not. But as you said, you can try!
___________
Hi dmc,
Yes--the VA is bureacracy bound. I couldn't agree more. I have horrible stories about them. I was ignored.
I wound up arguing with the state Medicaid people, many of whom said that since I can go to the VA I can not, therefore, get Medicaid.
I argued: The VA refuses to help me (other than to babysit me at appointments.) Veterans can't get Medicaid? I argued while having Bell's palsy, in my first month of arguing. I finally won Medicaid. Unbelieveable.
When I figured out what I have the VA refused to diagnose and treat me for Lyme disease and I discovered that that is the VA's unwritten nationwide policy.
There is a thread I started for active military, reservists and veterans, over in the General Forum. Also, do you know about Military Lyme Support from Yahoo Groups? They send daily emails that are worth it!
Both of you: are you aware of Prescription Hope? It may be a way for you to get your meds paid for, if insurance / VA / military hospitals and clinics turn you down. They contact makers of drugs who, if you qualify, send them free.
You pay this organization $7.oo per month, per med. Here's information:
Many with chronic Lyme disease wind-up homeless. If you know of anyone, please pass the word to go this site and search it. It's called the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. Various state governments are funding these places for homeless veterans. The VA rarely tells people about these places.
I'm termed "homeless veteran" (due to the VA ignoring me and going poor.) I have my own room and pay $400 per month with my Social Security Disability.

Hot diggity dawgs! I am SO happy for you!!!
FINALLY we have answers for you!!!
You MUST be relieved to at least know something!
Ceftin has been used by a number of folks and has helped them. Not everyone is the same so what is good for one person isn't always good for another.
In other words... we can't make "blanket" statements because one size doesn't fit all.
Ceftin isn't as pricy as others... but more money than the cheapest.
THANK YOU for going to a LLMD! My stress level just dropped some. I was worried about you but now can rest easier knowing you have someone in control of what is going on.

Tincup Thank You for your concern, And the info on the abx is great.
Boomerang: "How did the LLMD determine you had late stage lyme and possible Bart?"
Boomerang based on my Positive test results (ELISA AND WB) combined with my symptoms (though not as severe as most here) She said without a doubt I had late stage lyme.
I have had a fever for 3 months now and that lead to Bart or Babs I cant remember now which one she said.
seems like my short term memory is almost totally gone sorry.
Thanks everyone and hopefully see some of you on the 7th of May.!!

What was your experience like working with her? Was she good, friendly, knowledgeable? Can you give a basic summary of your overall experience with her?
