Hello my fellow lyme-fighters,

I am just curious how many of us have symptoms that you can look back over the months or years and say that the symptoms have become more prominent versus how many have a more steady level of symptoms.

I, for one, have been diagnosed with Bartonella, Lyme, and Heavy Metals, and my symptoms definitely have become worse and worse over time.

Just thought this would be an interesting bit of comparative information for us all.

Over 35 years, I had three times from 1982-1991 that I had a couple months at a time where I was pretty disabled by it. I had only minor symptoms prior to 1982 and after 1991.

In 2003 it came back and grew steadily worse since then.

Now that I'm in treatment I'm getting steadily better and most days am pretty much normal again.

IVe been steadily getting worse since starting treatment. I am in some sort of neuro herx. Also my fatigue is worse than before tx. A lot of other symptoms have disappeared though. The ones I notice the most that are gone are the neck pain, the headaches and naueseousness that used to plague me everyday.

When my symptoms flared for the first time-- i would notice more and more strange symptoms, and then the symptoms would level off.

I don't always have the same symptoms-- they shift slightly, but I have a usually "baseline" for how I feel.

While Symptoms wax and wane-- there are only a few days over the past 9 years where I felt notably good, or notably bad.

I hope this helps--

Hello HamDune,

My signs and symptoms started 4 years ago.

There has been no remissing/remitting or flares, per se. When I began antibiotics everything slowly, but very steadily, got better, along with enduring the herxes. In a year and almost 8 months I've improved remarkably, with more antibiotics in my future.

Thanks everyone for your responses so far. I hope to hear more from you and others who have not yet responded.

Lymetoo, to answer your question, I have been chronically ill for coming up on 7 years. During this time I have done treatments of various modalities and focuses including oral ABX for nearly 18 months.

I have had a very consistent and steady rate of worsening of symptoms. By this I am referring to: being able to do less and less, more cognitive issues, more fatigue, lower WBC count, and just the general physical and emotional malaise we deal with on a daily basis.

Please don't hesitate to ask me anymore questions or contribute anything yourself.

My experience is that when I am taking abx, my symptoms improve. I do have to stop periodically due to toxicity. When that happens, all the symptoms return full force.

A new development is that I am taking abx, and my symptoms are as bad as they ever were. I can't really believe it is a never-ending herx. My recent blood tests showed low WBC and low Monocytes, proteins, as well as low calcium. We are trying to determine the reason for this.

My LLMD does not believe the low counts are a result of the tx.

I have more or less resigned myself to being on abx the rest of my life - and I'm "only" 54.

I have only been in treatment for 6 months, but sick for about 18-20 years on and off.

I got worse on the first 4 months of IV abx, spent 2 months in bed with a bucket by the side for my continious dry heaves. Enormous head sensations, head pain...just sick.

Last 2 months on IM Bicillin and Zith pulled me out of the bed, but I still cannot drive, spend time in a grocery store, or exercise. I was able to do these things prior to beginning treatment.

Praying for greater improvement as treatment goes on.
