My daughter has been on a couple of different ABX combinations since June 2007. Definite improvement, but it seems like we've reached a plateau, plus she has reactions of some sort to just about EVERYTHING. Can the Cowden protocol be instituted alongside ABX, or does it have better success if the ABX are stopped first. Anyone have feedback regarding success (or not)of either avenue?

Thanks,
Diane

I can't answer whether to stop abx or not. For me, it was a personal decision.

I started off doing a "limited" Cowden protocol. Nutramedix has an offer to give doctors a free 6 month trial of the full protocol to 1 patient. I nagged my doctor to get it for me so I could try it.

I think doing the "full" protocol is much better than doing a "limited" version. When you go for the full version - they send you all the herbs & supplements & a very concise schedule to take all the herbs & supplements for 6 months.

Everything is timed out. Some herbs are switched & alternated. I think it's a really good protocol. I definitely feel like "stuff" is going on in my body. I've only been doing if for a few months so I want to give it the full 6 months before I recommend it.

Like I say below - I'm very happy with it so far.

I am on Full Cowden and abx. I tried Full Cowden alone, but coinfection symptoms came back.

Here is a study you may be interested in. http://www.ilads.org/files/compendium07/Horowitz.pdf

6goofy - I looked at the link & some concepts were missing - it seemed like the info was from slides for a talk. Maybe I'm a bit dense & I didn't quite understand it properly?

It seemed to say that the people on full Cowden did better than people on Cowden + abx. Or was it that they didn't do a long enough study with people complying? Did I read this properly?

It does look like slides from a talk. [Smile]

I don't think there is enough information there to draw the conclusion that people do better on Cowden alone than Cowden + abx. I think the important information to draw is that both categories saw improvement on some level.

Dr. H did tell me that he found that people did see more improvement if they did the full Cowden vs. if they did limited Cowden.

my philosophy is to do things in tandem, and not co ncurrently.
