I live in Western MA. Does anyone know of any places I could try both an infrared sauna and a conventional steam sauna before I decide to buy?

I feel like telling you here what I learned during my Lyme journey:

It is not a good idea to go into any sauna with a Lyme problem before you have cleared and are absolutely certain that you are not heavy metal toxic. I have not met that person, with a chronic disease, with suspected Lyme or similar, who is not heavy metal toxic. I would definitely get checked out on that part first. Going into a sauna without having done any heavy metal detox, at least to a certain extent, is dangerous because we tend to move the metals even more into the brain because of the increased circulation, etc.

I like most Dr. K. patients was heavy metal toxic and was not recommended to do sauna, no matter which one, until toward the latter part of the detoxing phase after some of the metals have been removed from the body.

So just be careful. There is nothing worse and more difficult than getting heavy metals out of the brain once they have made it up there. If you have any neuro symptoms, it is even more important to be careful.

The Lyme critters do not like heat, that is certain. But the heat would kill us before it kills the bugs. It has to be real high heat and then some.

We baught an infrared sauna during the latter part of my getting-well journey. I love it now and use it frequently, but I am not battling Lyme any longer nor a lifelong accumulation of toxic heavy metals. Now it is merely for eliminating the daily exposure. Infections flourish in a metal toxic body. The metals are there and the bugs are setting up housekeeping in that terrain. When the metals have been addressed, the pathogens seem to give up.

Hope this adds something to your understanding.

Good luck to you and take good care.

That's very interesting... thanks for your comment GiGi.

I was interested in saunas too. but I will wait until I deal with my high metals first.

BTW- Would you be able to tell me what Dr. K you see? Can you PM me some info? I'm really interested in his approach if he's the same one I'm thinking of.

xtine,go to www.neuraltherapy.com. That's the Dr. K. and the one that guided me back to wellness. He will always be my hero.

Hope you find someone that does the energetic testing. I think it is a major factor and avoiding pitfalls and things the body has a hard time dealing with.

Good luck to you and take good care.

I was tested for heavy metals through Quest and was negative. Am I cleared to use sauna?

Gigi- How do you go about heavy metal detoxing? Do you have a test done? Where? What is the specific name of the test?

Are there doctors who do this and how do you know when enough detoxing has taken place in order to use the infrared sauna or KMT machine?

My son has been detoxing on Sarsaparilla, Milk Thistle and Red Root tincture along with detox foot pads for about a month now. Do these herbs detox heavy metals as well?

I know you highly recommend chlorella (BioPur brand) for detoxing also. How much and when is it to be taken? With or without food? How far away from meds and supplements?

Your input is always appreciated and you are a source of information as are others on this website. Thank you for taking the time to help.
