Can doxy be taken with plaquenil, or does it reduce its effectiveness?

Anybody on this combo?

I was on this for a few months and it was fine. I was also on Biaxin. Shouldn't reduce effectiveness.

good luck

Plaquenil is used to make abx work better. It is fine to take with doxy.

Thanks for your responses. I have been reducing my doxy from 4 a day to 2 a day in anticipation of going to Florida. Well, I relapsed last week, and now don't know if I'm going to go at all. I stopped the doxy per my LLMD's instructions, but getting sicker. He did prescribe Plaquenil which I had the courage to start yesterday. I was wondering if I could take both because doxy did help me somewhat. The Plaquenil was prescribed for possible babs.

Thank you.

Hi, you do know that minocin is smaller so it gets into the brain better right? But when on mino, expect severe herx, thats normal. Doxy too. But lesser so. I also discovered for me, I CANT take these tetra class drugs long time. Maybe a month or so thats it, then a break. I got all kinds of joint pains. On flagylnow, , feel terrible, but seems that its cleaning the cysts? out of the joints and the pain is dropping now. Plaq allows the marcolides to enter the red cells, otherwise it wont, except ketek. And it good for babs not as good as lariam, but its helped me. Plaq makes me depressed, and bothers tummy a bit. But I will take it again soon.

My son takes Plaquenil and Doryx (a gentler form of Doxy) with no problems.
