Hi All,

I've had terrible anxiety over the last few days. My first thought was that I might be herxing but I just don't know for sure. I was achy over the last few days and seem to get that during a herx.

I'm on a low dose of amoxi (500mg) 3X a day and will get bumped up to a larger dose once I see my LLMD next on May 20th.

I don't even know if this low dose is effective but my headaches and ear troubles have improved a bit. I have some new symptoms - I have a lot of muscle spams, a sense of a loss of control of my muslces and just terrible head fog.

I'd also added a good quality garlic capsule into my regime, drinking green tea as well as I'm juicing raw veggies and sticking to a very good diet.

I'm wondering if the added alternatives are causing a herx or if i'm just getting worse.

How do I know? and how do I get rid of this anxiety?

Thanks!
Christine

Sounds like it is related to the reaction. You can talk to your doctor about temporarily taking Ativan or something short term. Treating the symptoms can help move you through it, or if it becomes intolerable you can talk to the doctor about pulling back temporarily on treatment.

Detoxification helps as well with handling a Herx. You have a lot of options, but a simple option would be something like Burbur. Again, talk to the doctor about it.

Thanks Blue... I guess I need to think about medication during these herxes since I don't think I can tough them out for very long...

I guess I was trying to be 'brave' but I do have lyme disease so it's not like I'm just stressed... I have to remember that... normally, I'd feel weak relying on meds.

you bring up a good point about detoxing as well. i'm still attempting to find a naturopath who knows what she/he is doing and when i do, I will do some detoxing with their guidance... right now, i'm just eating really well and drinking lots of water/herbal teas.

Anxiety was my most pronounced symtoms when I was on abx and herxing.
When I got off abx, my anxiety was the highest it's ever been,
I took xanax to get me through the tough days and now that I'm abx free, the anxiety is down to less than 5%.

Christine,
I started on 3 amoxi per day and herxed like crazy.

Appearance of new symptoms, i.e., anxiety is very likely part of the herx.

Xanax can help w/anxiety when needed.

Hi
yes the anxiety was worse when I got off abx. My LLMD and my rheum told me I would not have withdrawal, but I believe it was withdrawal that caused the anxiety.
I've had panic/anxiety since I was 19 (am 41 now), but had it under control.
Once I did some good detoxing and just let the abx finally leave my system, I was much better.
I still get days where the anxiety is high.

And I was on abx for 4 months and got off because I was worried what it was doing to my body. My LLMD didn't want me to get off, but I went with my gut. I got off and most of lyme symptoms are gone. And I hope they stay GONE ;-)

The anxiety will pass but make sure you detox very well, do not eat sugar and stay away from ALL caffeine,

Hi guys!
I started IV ceftriaxone(Rocephin),and the next day I was hallucinating and so very pranoid,I could not go out.
I have been on it for 4 days and feel better. I am waiting for the Herxing.

interesting about the anxiety. i certainly hope that i can beat this bugger too... is your LLMD in Canada?

i am worried about all the ABX i'm taking too... hopefully I can find an ND who knows about lyme and help treat me with alternatives.

it's good to hear you're feeling better- i like those stories.

i've been feeling better over the past couple of days and believe my major herx was from the garlic pills i was taking.... i haven't taken one in two days although i guess i should keep up with it because it seems to be working but i don't know if i can handle the herx.
