Opinions please and/or preferences based on experiences?
I have been on Nystatin since starting treatment in Oct 2007, but I know for some the Diflucan works better. The Nystatin works fine for me as far as keeping yeast issues at bay, and I am pretty strict on the dietary stuff.
Diflucan also comes in a generic and Nystatin doesn't; it is pretty expensive for me.......

I have been on both at different times through out my treatment. Nystatin is able to be mixed with more meds which is why I'm on that one at this particular time.
Diflucan is harder on the liver, although it never seemed to elevate my levels.
I'm sure there are pros and cons to both, but I think one of the key factors would be which abx's you are on and what will work well with the other.

From what my Doc says, Nystatin stays in the intestional tract, which is why it is easier on the body.
Boy oh boy does it taste bad.
I took Nystatin a few months, and it seemed to work well. I have also have taken Dyflucan at 200mg one time per week. Being female, this is helpful because it helps more then just the intestional tract. Nystatin seems to work a lot better, though.
** A newer option Amphotericin B Pure PDR (cm) It is a compounded medicine like Nystatin, but tastes a lot better.
I am convinced it is more effective then both the others.
When I switched from the above Diflucan treatment to this Amphotericin B, I had a definite herx! extremely tired, and my doctor warned me this may happen, and had me on Toxi HMF at the same time to absorb toxins.

According to a book I read, Nystatin may allow your body to develop more resistant strains. Of course, I'm sure the same could be said about Diflucan.
I took both while on abx.
Nystatin is very benign and does not affect the liver.

I have taken both before and Nystatin Powder is much more effective than pill form -
Nystatin can also be mixed with water and rubbed on your skin for itching-
Diflucan works OK - Jay--
