Hi,

Has anyone lost weight while on diflucan?

I'm losing a lot of weight - it's worrisome. I'm 5'5" and lost 20lbs (now weigh 109lbs) in the last 4 months (worst since on diflucan, in the last three weeks).

I am pretty sure I eat more than enough: high protein meals + 3 protein shakes a day (with lots of omega oils)... yet the weight keeps dropping. With this weight loss, I have muscle twitches (in spite of taking more than 600mg of Magnesium). I think I'm not absorbing all the nutrients!

I'm on a lot of stuff right now (Diflucan, Mg, B6, D3, Cat's Claw, Samento, Allicin) and it's hard to tell if it's any of them, the Lyme, a co-infection, or something else causing the weight loss.

Anyone experience out of control weight loss while on Diflucan?

Caro

A high protein diet causes weight loss. You may need to consider adding in carbohydrates that are low on the glycemic index. They can help you gain some weight back and don't feed the yeast as much as foods with a high index.

I'm assuming you have a yeast problem from the high protein diet and the Diflucan.

This website has information on foods based on their glycemic index. http://www.glycemicindex.com/

If you are battling yeast, you need to strike a balance. If you are starving the yeast in starving yourself then you won't get healthy.

Some other recommendations of supplements that would help the digestive system and absorption:

1. A good probiotic. Diflucan is killing the yeast in your gut and you want to fill it in with the good bacteria.

2. Chlorella. It helps detoxify and I noticed it was much easier to digest food so I'm hoping I'm absorbing better.

3. Consider IV nutrients (like a Myers cocktail) if you are not absorbing nutrients.

4. Get your amino acid levels tested and supplement with amino acids if necessary. If you are not absorbing nutrients, then your body doesn't have the amino acids to break down protein and you should supplement. My doctor uses the 24 hour urine challenge through Labcorp.
