Well, I started my Biaxin combo on Monday. I started with Biaxin 500 mg a day with Plaquenil twice a day.
I did okay with that. I am fatigued anyway so didn't notice to much of a difference.
Yesterday I upped it to my full dosage. Biaxin 1000 mg. It is the controlled release kind. My LLMD spoke to me on Wednesday and said it is okay to take the full dosage of Biaxin at once since it is the CR.
I take it in the morning with food and tons of water.
My fatigue yesterday increased greatly..although I did not think that was possible.
Last night around 8 pm I had such stomach pains I thought I was going to die. I was also so tired that I was at the point of collapsing.
I layed down before that could happen but even lying down I felt like I was fighting consciousness.
I was completly out of it. My little girl was talking to me and everything seemed to be in slow motion.
Is this normal? I also have complete loss of appetite. I have to force myself to eat. Just looking at food makes me feel queezy.
Is this what I can expect the whole time on this abx?

I had probs with bixon too. Cant seem to take it. Zith hurt bad too, but the bioxn was worse. I for some reason can handle rulide (which is like zith but not avail here) Rulide is actually the first advanced marcolide.
I feel sick again, I think its ulcers from all thses pills. idk...hoping mild hbot is going to help me.

Thank you. I decided to take it in 2 doses today.
It is really beating me up.
I also did a b12 shot a little while ago. I hope it gives me some energy even though my lab results says that my b12 is normal.
It was pretty funny watching myself trying to do it. I sat on the bed with the needle next to my rump for the longest time. I just couldn't get up the nerve to punch the needle in.
My husband was going to do it but while he was holding the needle he was doing an evil laugh. So I wouldn't let him. LOL.

My husband also offered to give me my B-12 shots.
Uh.....NO!!!!!
I had my neighbor do them as she is a RN.
Then I switched to a Rx. B-12 which my insurance doesn't pay for, but it is worth it.
I hate shots.
Biaxin will make me queasy and extrememly fatigued.
The fatigue does get better though.
I have to take mine in two doses and with food.
I've been in that "Twilight Zone" when I am so out of it I don't know what is going on.
Hang in there.
Hugs,

Biaxin is where I got my screen name on this message board.
I got a little sweaty and my head cleared and then day three was WHAM!!!!!!!!!!
I felt like someone broke my knee caps and my chemical sensitivity was through the roof!
I stopped and then had 3-4- of the most blissfull days you can imagine. I felt like I was 13 (before I got sick)
I slowlly worked up the dosage and then was exposed to some PVC mats in the sauna and my MCS came back with vertigo hard core.
After 3 weeks it went away and then I did something stupid. I put citronella oil in a crock pot with some water to scent the house.
I then opened the lid to the pot after it was on for a couple hours and WHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Full blown MCS and vertigo.
That was 4 years ago. My life has never been the same. I have MCS with vertigo every single day and it doesnt get better. ITs very depressing.
This alone has made me suicidal at times. I cant smell any more and in fact chemicals burn my nose.
This is coming from a person who used to wear and actually enjoy scents.

By the way when I go off the biaxin now in about 4-5- months I cant walk well and get terrible fatigue and pain in my feet.
Then when I start taking it again I herx. Then I get less pain and more energy.
Damned if you do damned if you dont.

Well I don't know if it is a placebo effect or if the b12 worked a bit.
I wouldn't say I have more energy but my mood seems lifted and my eyes aren't so sleepy feeling. I don't know if it would work that quickly or not.
Usually I am sound asleep by this time. I don't care if it's placebo though..whatever works.
Thanks for letting me know the fatigue does get better though. I am glad it has worked for you.
Lymeherx..so sorry to see that you don't get more improvement. I know how depressing it can get. I am sick of this struggle. Vertigo has been a problem for me too. That is one of the reasons I had to quit working several years ago and get disability.
My vertigo improved dramatically with Zithromax and flagyl. It took about 6 months but I saw great improvement.
Take care, kit

kit how long did it take to get disability?
I hear that its not that much money too and sometimes its not really worth it.
Is this true?

I think biaxin is also one of the antibiotics used for h.pylori. Could the herxing be from an unknown h.pylori stomach infection?
I am going to be tested for h.pylori but have to be off all antibiotics for 15 days. Today is day 13. It's been a struggle because other symptoms are coming back while being off the antibiotics.

Thanks guys. I think I will be sticking with the Biaxin.
I really do think the b12 helped too.
My disability went through on the first shot. I didn't have to get a lawyer or anything either. I know I am extremly lucky in that sense. It takes others a long time to get approved.
Your payment is determined on your past work history. I had to list my last jobs over the years. They then calculate it.
I get about 70 percent of what I made in my last job. My children also get a check each month. It's not a huge amount for them but enough to help.
I think it is worth it to me. My checks have helped me be able to afford my doctors visits.
One thing that helped me greatly I believe is that after I applied I went to my local congressman. I explained my whole illness to him and what I have been through since 1996. He called the disability office several times for me and also sent them a letter.
His office knew before me that I was approved. They called me about a week before I got my approval letter from SS.
I encourage others to do the same. It all depends on who your congressman is and if they care.

Wow kit.
I guess its worth it if you were previouslly employed with a good job.
Unfourtunatelly I dont have a high or even a mid range paying job.
But I do have full insurance. Go figure. Thats the school system for you. By the way I never wanted to work in a school but my father is a teacher so at my most desperate state when my insurance was running out I got the job.
