Hi, I have been on IV Rocephin for 30 days, 27 to be exact. I had some gallbladder pain on saturday night, so I am on hold, until he receives my abd. ultrasound report.

My question is, how many people have relapsed after Rocephin. I have only been off of it for a few days and already have relapsing symptoms.

It is very discouraging! I really want to get this PICC line out, if IV meds are not any more effective than oral.

If any one has some advice,or experience with getting off IV and changing to oral, I would love to hear how your treatment/recovery is going! [Roll Eyes]

Thanks,
Joy

I would say stick with IV if you can!!!

I heard yesterday that Vancomycin IV was the "best" for Lyme - even better than Rocephin.

Others may have different opinion as I just heard it as well....

But I would say if you can - stick with IV!!! - as long as you can.

Wish I had!!!!!

If possible, I would stick with the picc-line for as long as you can. It, literally, saved my life.

I think I lasted about 6 mos on it and then the line got contaminated and they pulled it...then I followed up with orals for approx a year. No relapse and I never even did the cyst busters everyone says is mandatory after IV.

Never had a gall bladder problem.

The only reason I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack is because of sneaky Bart but no Lyme relapse!!

I'd try and stick out!

Just my 2 cents.

Best Wishes,

I was on IV rocephin for 8 months, but i also took actigall with it-to prevent or at least deter any gallbladder issues.

I did not develop any problems with gallbladder .

After the 8 months IV I followed up with oral Omnicef.

I don't think 27 days Rocephin is much of a punch.

Hi coffeebehm,

I'm sorry you're in distress. [Frown]

You've only been on IV Rocephen treatment for 27 days. Before that you had just amoxicillin for three weeks. You've had Lyme since 2006. That is not at all long enough for antibiotics.

Are you herxing now? That's when all signs and symptoms get worse from the die-off of Lyme germs.

Are you able to see an LLMD?

Here's the starting point: www.ilads.org, left menu, click "Treatment Guidelines." That takes you to the ILADS Guidelines and also Dr. B's 33 pages of tips for 2005.

I wish the best for you!
