Vancomycin hydrochloride is administered by slow IV infusion for the treatment of systemic infections. Vancomycin is very irritating to tissue and must not be given IM. Vancomycin is not active against gram-negative bacteria, fungi, or yeast.

I don't understand why it is being used against bartonella or borrelia when it clearly states that Vanco is not effective against gram-negative bacteria. Bartonella is a gram-negative bacteria. Maybe BLO is gram positive and that is what the LLMDs are gambling on?
