my mother has a history of yeast issues, and has contracted c.diff.

she is taking flagyl and acidopholous to treat and i understand Floraster or Saccharomyces boulardii lyo is recommended as a good thing to take to also help fight the c.diff but it IS Yeast.

is it the same thing as candida yeast? is it wise to take floraster or is this a different kind of yeast?

S.boulardii is not candida. It is better for heaing off C. dif then killing it, according to some studies.

Of couse anyone on yeast meds such as nystatin or diflucan should not bother with S. boulardi as those drugs will kill it.

Do not take Diflucan or Nystatin while taking Florastor or it will just kill it off.

Stop the antifungals to treat c.diff with vancomycin and florasor.

Is it good to take S. Boulardii on a daily basis? Right now I'm taking Kyo-dophilus which has acidophilis B. Bifidum and B. Longum. Today I added in a separate S. Boulardi. Does anyone know if this is a good combo and how much?

I was also surprised to find out today when I received the S. Boulardii and read the bottle and found out it is yeast. I also immediately thought what cameronb said. If it IS yeast, is it a good idea?

My LLMD is in love with florastor (seriously)

The idea is that it is a benficial yeast that grows over the bad yeast that causes us so many prob....

I take it on an empty stomach

Michelle - I've been strictly "ordered" to take 4 florastor a day for a week, then start to decrease

Who knows, 9/10 when I actually do what my LLMD says it winds up working great - so I will give it a try [Smile]
