I keep thinking and reading that my problems (our problems) with neuropathy and MCS is due to excesive glutame and lack of stage 4 delta sleep.

Well if Lyrica lowers Glutamate and deepens stage 4 sleep then theoretically cant this help us heal?

At first I didnt like the drunken feelings that it gave me so I only took it on nights that I felt manic.

Well I have been taking a small amount nightly now for over a week and I am thinking of continuing on it in order to heal.

In fact I havent had any need to take ambien either the past couple of nights. The lyrica alone was enough to quiet the activity in my brain.

I am not sure. I was on it for only a week before I stopped it. Major dizziness and visual problems.

It was not worth that. Be very careful with any Neuro or antisezure drug. Lyrica can cause skin sores if you are Diabetic.

I developed one but not sure if it was due to the Mycotoxins from the Mold in my apartment. I have never been tested for Diabetes. So I am not sure. Just be very careful.

Well the Lyrica is working. THe only downside I think is weight gain (can be in my head) and ......

drum roll please Low sex drive! I mean it was low to begin with, but now I see a pretty woman and they look like a bird or an inanimate object.

How disturbing. BTW Im male almost 30 (sorry for the give away).

LymeHerx,

Not sure what dose you are on.

Hubby only takes 25 mg 3 times daily.

No weight gain for him -- struggles to keep from losing any more weight actually.

The first week he took Lyrica it worked the opposite way on his sex drive (increased) -- was a temporary effect.

From my understanding the med acts like a calcium channel blocker for the brain instead of the heart -- in other words, increases magnesium in the brain or lowers calcium (not really sure which) to balance these 2 minerals.

If you are taking it for seizure-like activity then you need to take it on a regular schedule.

I don't know alot about bio-mechanisms of drugs. I'm not a scientist or doctor. I don't think this will help your nerves heal. It just makes your brain chemistry different so you don't feel so bad.

I think removing any mercury from your system may be more helpful in having your myelin sheaths heal - if you haven't done that already.

Just my intuition here... you probably have to do more studies on this one. Someone may be more educated on this - out there.
