I have had massive insomnia lately. I have had it off and on through out the treatment and thought for awhile it was getting better until I started my newest med and now I don't sleep at all.
It's insanity since everything seems more tramatic when you haven't gotten any sleep. I wish I had a solution for you, since it would then work for me too.
Hopefully someone out there will step in and give us all some pointers here.

I use melatonin off and on. Sometimes I use holy Basil - it shuts down corisol reactions. Also sometmes I use Fatiged to Fantastics End Pain and/or revitalized sleep. I do muscle test to see what I need if anything. Sleep is a very important thing not to get.
This is not medical advice just letting you know what works for me.

Thanks for the tips. I fell asleep around 3:30am. But then I slept in until 10:30. I sure hope I just didn't set off a cycle.

Sad, but true. the soda - and the meals you had were drugged to keep you wanting more.
Most restaurants simply don't serve food anymore. Think of food as that which nourishes - it's hard to find in many fast food places.
And DIET soda, is especially bad. Most contain aspartame (nutrasweet/Equal). That alone is toxic to our brain. Some may have Splenda.
They sit in hot warehouses, packed inside of plastic-lined containers or cans, absorbing checmicals that are endocrine disruptors all by themselves.
in addition to all the chemicals in your drink, the foods at the places you ate are loaded with high fats, and MSG (most likely).
MSG has many names - you can do a search on that. The sad thing is that, even the salads in restaurants can be loaded with MSG &/or nitrates as a preservative. Nitrates are also a cause for many reactions.
MSG is loaded into many foods - that (and the sugar) is why we crave them.
It is an excitatory neurotoxin that raises the NMDA receptors in your brain. Magnesium may calm that down, but you still have to work out all gunk in your body,
And, you've got the gluten factor in the wheat. And the simple carb factor - all that sugar from the bread would wire anyone. Your blood sugar and bad fats likely took a huge jump.
Think back to how man ate before grocery stores, fast food chains and refrigeration. Try to eat foods from the earth as our bodies do best with that.
Just one meal of bad food can cause serious trouble. And, it helps to take a look at how these foods were borne: for profit, not for nutrition.

Now, all that said: there are wonderful foods that can have your body feeling better in no time.
Magnesium is good to calm and detox.
sunshinyday / Gail has good advice.
If you use melatonin, start out VERY tiny. And don't plan much the next day just to see how you adjust.
Oh - HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Splurge on bright colors foods and thoughtful delights so that this coming year may be one of health. Berries galore would be better than pizza and soda. (Berries are the lowest sugar of most fruits; some plums, too.)
While still loaded with sugar, there are gluten-free cookies (Pamela's are good) and some nice gluten-free cake mixes. But this is a great time of the year to eat fresh foods.
I'm not preaching as much as amazed by all the stuff that grows so that we can have variety and excitement about produce. (My grandmother was a farmer so I get excited about red peppers and strawberries.)
A chai herb tea is great iced - many other fruit teas - you can also get some nice organic berry juices and cut with spritzed water.
And . . . Ethnic restaurants often have the best food. You can still eat out, but research the menu first. You can even take your own rice pasta to an Italian restaurant.
Baja Fresh looks like a fast, healthy place, too. I don't know if they used MSG or nitrates, but that's easy to find out.

I recently tried melatonin - 5 mg even - and it didn't do a thing. The first night I took it, my body felt tired, but my mind was still 100% wide awake. I fell asleep as quickly as I normally do, but every 2 hours I was awake as usual.
One thing I've noticed though is that, even though I still wake up every 2 hours, ever since the weather warmed up, I am able to sleep more 2-hour clips when there is a electron flux event, especially if it occurs during a magnetic storm.
Over the winter, it was the exact opposite - I was able to sleep slightly better without them, though the rifampin and Larium I am now taking may somehow be involved.
