I had a Lyme test done a WB and it was positive with bands 23 and 41.
I wanted to know if testing for a co infection Babesia, ehrlichia and CD-57?
Where could I find out if they are covered?
I've also have been on Doxy 200 mgs for 20 days now with 10 more to go. Is it possible to feel worse. The fatigue is so bad I'm no able to really do anything. Up until this point I was power walking 2.25 miles 5 days a week. Now I can't even think about it.
Also is there a test to see if this is working?

The CD57 and Fry Labs panel are both currently considered "good" tests for co-infections and the extent to which they are playing a part in the overall scheme of illness.
As far as insurance goes, it of course varies from carrier to carrier; however, I was able to get my CD57 covered (it is a LabCorp test) as well as a portion of my Fry test.
Hope that helps -- take care.

Thanks that does help. Can you tell me when the best time is to get these test? I'm day 20 on my doxy treatment. Do I wait until I'm finished my meds?
If I feel this bad now how will I know if I'm better or if I need more meds?

Hello again Sami,
I cannot say when would be the "best" time to run the FRY panel; however, I know that my test (as well as the tests of most others that I've spoken to) were run away from active antibiotic courses.
More likely than not, some have had the panel run during active treatment. Then you are getting into the debate of whether or not the meds are suppressing the infection OR causing it to show up more than if you were off meds. Tough call and definitely something to discuss with your LLMD or contact FRY directly; they will be able to answer that question.
To answer your second question: there in lies one of the many mysteries of these conditions and the treatments used. The CD57 numbers have been used to gauge progress of treatment and you could always run another FRY down the road, but they are pricey.
Hope that helps you out a bit. Hang in there and take it one day at a time. Do not get overwhelmed, because that is very easy to do.

Hi Sami - you could always try calling your insurance company and asking if they cover the tests.
Mine covered the CD57 but not much of the co-infections tests.
Are you seeing an LLMD? He/she will know when you need different meds.
Be patient, this can be quite a process. I felt horrible most of the time I was on doxy (much higher dose than you are on) and I think it helped bring out the symptoms of some co-infections.

I had co infections tested by mdlab.com and BC&BS covered it. Amazing! but true, Labcorp does the stricker panel and should be covered I believe...

I also had the MD Lab panel run, which did not find anything. When the Fry panel was run a few months later, however, I tested positive for a co-infection.
