I'm new to all of this and I have been reading but I still have questions.

I have been dealing with thyroid problems but my thyroid is fine.

Sounds nuts I know but my numbers were not really that bad but all they symptoms pointed to thyroid so I have been on meds since 2003.

I am now taking 2 grains of Armour and .25 mcgs of Levoxyl and I will have to increase again.

How do you know if it's Lyme that has done this

or if it is indeed thyroid and I just got lyme?

Back in 2003 I was tested for Lyme but it was negative so it had to be thyroid subclinical.

I'm on Doxy 200 mgs a day for 30 days and right now I feel worse then I did prior to meds.

Doctor said to take meds for 30 days off 2 weeks retest and then do co infections.

What will this show?

Doc will test CD-57 at that time also.

Please tell me I won't live like this my whole life. I really was trying to get my health back when I thought it was thyroid. Now that I have lyme how do I tackle this?

Is there a cure?

How do you know how long you had this if you have other medical issues?

Sami

you are in the north east. there are a lot of good llmds here. that dose of doxy is way too low. i'm sure others here will agree.

thyroid is real tricky with lyme complex.

i think you need to get to a more lyme literate doc.

your doc seems to know some stuff...but not really enough

some get bit, get treatment , get better.

lots of us end up learning to live with it-keep it under control so our life is not horrible...but i think most of us agree (and most llmds say) you probably never get rid of every bug. emotional or physical trauma often make it more active when it has been reasonably under control.

i'm sure you'll get a bunch more answers.

Feeling worse is called a Herxheimer Reaction .... it's actually a confirmation that you have Lyme.

It sounds like your doctor may know what he's doing regarding Lyme since he has you on doxy, is getting you off, then retesting. Like the previous poster said, though, it's a low dose, but maybe he has a reason for it.

Is he testing you with IGeneX? That is who you want to have the retesting done with.

The new test is to show whether you have antibodies to Lyme.

You will feel better with treatment, but treatment is not considered a cure .... though 100% remission is possible.
