I had a bart test from igenx, came back negative, doc still put me on levaquin due to symptoms. My question is, how many strands of bart do they test for, and if it comes out negative, then why do we have symtoms? Is it because the test is not adequate, then why even spend the money for it? Jenin

Igenex sucks at co-infection testing, go with Fry Labs and get the blood smear along with the antibodies.

Igenex co-infection testing is unreliable but sometimes the Fry blood smear for bart is too. Mine was.
I am really wondering why I paid for 2 Igenex bart tests and a Fry blood smear. I must have bart brain.

So, what is the general consensus on which is the "gold standard" for now, if we want to call it that?

Gold standard for now = symptoms + response to meds

My Dr. ordered my Bart test through BioScience Labs not Igenex.
When you get IGENEX testing done, I assume she ordered the IGG and IGM for lyme, that doesnt include co infections? I was under the assumption that it does a more thorogh job for everything, that is why we pay extra for it.
If not, my doctor didnt do a good job in ordering testing.
