When you are doing the MP, yes, one must avoid D sources --- especially supplements that are synthetic D. I will never take D vitamins as long as I live! Today, while in the final phases of the MP, I went for a walk in the summer sun. Sure, I had shades on...but my D is lower and normalized now that I am healthier.
Once my D was in the teens (or below), I didn't feel the need to live in a cave. For some people, this is possible with the MP. It's hard work, but I got my life back with few compromises. I feel lucky and grateful.
PM if I can help....

The Marshall Protocol is extremely controversial - I would do a lot of reading, before starting it. Starving your body of Vit D is a very bad idea for the vast majority of people. I take Vit D and felt much much better once I started it.

I think I mentioned this earlier, I don't "starve" my body of D. I think the trick is to walk that fine line of managing natural D intake -- and keeping the D levels "down." Notice I said natural!
When one is healthy and free of chronic infections, then D may be OK. As well, the MP is not for everyone, for reasons mentioned in this and many other topics. I am just glad I found it!
There is still much I need to learn about how and why D is injurious to people with certain inflammatory diseases; I hope we see more papers and learnings about this soon. In the meantime, people who have gotten better by the MP see "D" as a key variable to manage in their long road to wellness.

most LLMDs recommend much higher levels of vitamin D than the marshall protocol stipulates as desirable. mine is in the teens and that's abysmally low, so i'm on D supplementation and have instructions to spend 10 minutes a day in the sun without sunscreen.
i feel better on the D, and just intuitively i think denying the body of vitamin D, including sunlight, is harmful and dangerous.
we need the sun to live and grow, just as plants do!
