Hi,
I've been worried that I may have passed Lyme on to my daughter congenitally. My LLMD tested her (through Quest) and she came back + for band 41 Igg.
I only came back w/41 also through quest but Igg and Igm but I have full blown neuro Lyme (a lot better lately-knock on wood!).
We decided not to treat her at this time. No real obvious signs w/her but every little, or not so little thing makes me panic. Am I doing the right thing? She really seems quite healthy overall other than some seasonal and dust allergies. She does have fluid in her ears right now but her doc thinks it's from the allergies.
She tends to be quite irritable but better when she has her zyrtec. It's hard to know if anything is really wrong b/c she's 2 and going through the terrible 2's.

If it makes you feel *any* better, I am in the exact same situation. I recently tested positive for band 41 IGM & IGG through Quest.
I then re-traced my life to figure when I may have gotten bit, and the only time that makes sense is about 5 years ago.
Today, I have 2 little girls ages 4 and 20 months. I had them both tested as I believe I may have had lyme prior to pregnancy.
They both tested positive for band 41. They exhibit no obvious symptoms, but my 20 month old has always been a pretty fussy baby (which is letting up as she gets older).
Also-they do both have seasonal allergies and persistent runny noses almost ALL winter.
But myself & my doctor both agree that there are no lyme symptoms present at this time.
My doctor suggested not to treat them as they may have just inherited the antibodies from me and based on a clinical diagnosis, they don't have lyme symptoms so he felt that large doses of abx may do more harm than good.
He said we just need to keep a very close eye out for lyme symptoms and be aware and alert.
I know it is SO scary to think you passed it on to your kids, but we can only move forward.
I am hoping and praying and keeping faith that they only inherited antibodies in utero which is very possible for your case also and may never actually have lyme or any symptoms.
Best of luck to you, sometimes it helps just hearing from someone else who is going through the same thing.

Hi there, I am in the same spot too. However, my husband has lyme and my twin 4 year old boys were just diagnosed. I just got a positive Igenex result (which was a surprise to me) and my 2 year old daughter came back with band 41. I now think I have had it for several years so I could have passed it to all of my children.
What concerns me is one of my 4 year olds was tested when he had just turned 3. At that time only band 41 showed up. I was concerned because he didn't sleep well and was very ornery. He also had repeated ear infections. When I tested him a year later at age 4, more bands showed up and he got a postive lyme test.
I worry that the 41 could be the first one that shows before the others show. Just watch her carefully as I am with my daughter. My daughter is almost 2 and is hitting her brothers alot and is often cranky. I am starting to wonder if she has it too.

My kids both had only band 41 show up (now almost 6 and 3 yrs). I haven't treated either of them and besides some ear infections in my son, no other real issues.
I still always wonder "ugh, what if they have Lyme" but band 41 really means nothing by itself....it is not indicative of anything. Now, band 41 paired with a more lyme-specific band is a different story.
Try to remember that many healthy people, without lyme, can show band 41 positive. It is a band that can cross-react with many non-infectious things.
However, that isn't to say someone may only show a band 41 and could possibly have lyme....sorry, I know my rambling doesn't help here...
I just think we just really need to keep an eye on symptoms and react to that, not to band 41.
