I happened to be driving down the road in SD for my job in November 2006 and thought I was having a heart attack.
My left arm felt numb, chest heavy, short of breath and all I could think about in that moment was my wife and daughter.
Many tests and symptoms later I find out I have Lyme Disease.
It has been pretty good this year. On Clindamycin and Biaxin protocol I was really feeling better, but started to backslide.
So, the next drug on the list is Rifampin. I started that Monday. I am only taking 150mg to start with this week. Thursday night I thought here we go again.
My chest felt really heavy and nauscious. Today I am having palpation issues (racing heart beat).
Can 150mg of Rifampin really make you herx like that?
Should I see a cardio doctor this week or just call my LLMD?
I would also like to add that I have never been tested for coinfections, only lyme/borreliosis through Igenix.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

are you only on rifampin -that is not good -need to be with azithr otherwise BArt wil become resistant..
You are hitting bart.Bart loves the heart.
Now I know all these heart problems ( even herx that I had a stroke -even 5 times in ER -911) was having bart having a party .
Rifampin -chases bart but does not eradicate it -but kills some.

I had symptoms very similar to yours, to the point that they even admitted me for a heart catherization before I knew lyme and co's were involved.
Then they did a stress test after that but all seemed to be fine, although when they would have me on the monitor, I'd have their heart racing tendicies. Back then, they said it had to be anxiety and released me with Xanax.
Obviously things progressed from there, but it was chest pain that was the first symptom I went in with, on my three year search.
This is not to say whether or not you need to have your heart checked, but I would definitely let your LLMD know you are going through this.
