In the paSt, I have had GI problems since 2003..nothing to major. I went out of the country for a trip last fall, got severe diarreha, passing mucus, cramping etc.
I'm convinced I have some sort of nasty parasite or could this be a lyme symptom? I've used Humaworm, chinese herbs and still do not feel better. My symptoms now are passing mucus, stomach pain, burning, stomach blah. I went to see the GI doc Thursday and will be having a colonoscopy in two weeks.
What is the most effective thing for GI symptoms? Do parasites play a huge part in this picture, what is the most effective parasite medication? I've heard Enula works well..even better than Humaworm. Has any used the Dr. Natura Colnix/parasite cleanse with success for this type of problem?

Not to scare you but two years ago I had stomach and neck pain and constipation. Then the colonscopy. My lyme got sooooo much worse. I was in bed for days and have never really recovered. I hope this does not happen to you.
My lyme doc said I should have had an abx drip while I was under.
I have tried so many things including humaworm, Dr. Natura (did made me go more often) and sent samples to The Great Plains Lab.
Nothing except low Butyrate and low Total SCFA's which means low good bacteria - I take more probiotics now.
I am a little better but it feels like a knife is in my stomach for part of everyday.
I am also treating babs now so I am hoping to improve.

It is possible you have GI symptoms because of Lyme & co-infections.
I have had persistent GI problems during this whole time I have been sick. So much so that I was not absorbing my medication well & ended up back on IV meds.
I am also on Nexium & Pepcid for persistent reflux and nausea.
Good luck finding a good GI.

In my opinion the best parasite test is the complete G.I. panel from DiagnosTechs. This test includes a saliva test for parasites that will find things missed by just stool tests. Also tests for Candida.
Costs $235 I think -- hubby's insurance covered most of the cost.
Alinia is one of the newer parasite meds that also seems to work on Babs.
Hubby is taking Alinia and pulsing 4 different antibiotics for Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella plus the parasites -- Ascaris, entaemoba histolytica and one more.
Will repeat the DiagnosTechs test and a Fry bloodslide in August or September to check on progress.

GI symptoms I had for years before and then even worse after LD. I couldn't even eat then.
My LLMd made a clinical diagnosis of h.pylori since testing stinks (surprise!) and cured my stomach issues with 3 months of Nexium, Biaxin, Amoxicllin (abx also LD killers)...it is now the best part of me most of the time.
Make sure you take a good strong probiotic - in refrigerated type, w/CFU in the billions. I love and have not used a better one than Natures Way Primadophilus Optima - 35 billion CFU and also Jarrow Saccharomyces Boulardii 5 billion CFU. I buy both online at Iherb.com they ship them with ice packs, which is great.

The lab Bea mentioned above is excellent. They found multiple issues for me, which have now been resolved.
I took Xifaxan, then (oral) Vancomycin for 10 days each. Then repeated both. Both of those are abx that stay in the GI system.
Probiotics and S. Boulardii are a must. I also took a lot of herbs Rx'd by an integrative med doc who works with my LLMD.
I hope you find something that helps soon.

YES you must be on an IV antibiotic drip (ceftriaxone or Ceftin) with any General Anesthetic before/during & After otherwise the lyme can go wild and really they should only use Propofol Anesthesia with Lyme patients.
