Yes, I have tried it.

There are people here who will hate me for saying this.....and I am by no means "recommending" it.....

.....but I feel that I did Herx on it. I have no way of knowing if it "cured" my Lyme/babesia/bartonella, because about a month after I started it, I started Mepron for babesia (This was 3 years ago...I am now on Mepron again...yeesh).

Thus, I didn't give it much of a try before going on prescription meds. And I am not better now, if that answers your question.

The reason I tried it was that all of my bloodwork was coming back negative, so my doctor (even an LLMD) was unsure about treating me, so I had no presciptions....so I decided to try it and see what happened. Strangely, I did get a positive a month later (and prescriptions) but can't remember if blood was drawn before or after I started salt/c.

Well, when I started Salt/C I soon started having what I believe was a babesia Herx. Keep in mind, it would be hard to know if your body is just reacting to having a lot of salt or if you are herxing, but I am 99% sure I was herxing.

I started having horrible headaches (I had Herxed before on antibiotics and I felt they were Herx headaches)....but the kicker is, I started having babesia night sweats!

I kept thinking, "Something is happening. Now I really KNOW I must have Lyme."

That doesn't mean it will cure you, but it was obviously doing something.

There were other factors besides the "tick infections" factor in my decision to try the protocol, however. One was I overheard a doctor once saying to another doctor that if I had chronic fatigue, he heard salt pills might help (they are electrolytes, which can give you energy, especially if your body needs them....such as if you are prone to dehydration. Keep in mind, that is not the source of everyone's fatigue).

The other doctor must not have thought it was a good idea, because he never suggested it. But then, when I saw ANOTHER doctor, he diagnosed me with dysautonomia, which is a condition helped by electrolytes.

So, with all those things in mind, I decided I should try it.

Here is my "medical warning" though: TAKING SALT ISN'T FOR EVERYONE! IT CAN HURT SOME PEOPLE, SO THEY SAY. People can have HORRIBLE KIDNEY PROBLEMS from it. Also, if you are at risk for heart disease....might not be the best idea!!!!!!!

It is definitely a do-at-your-own-risk thing.

I am 24, and had relatively low blood pressure, so I figured I wasn't too high risk. Not that that means it's safe.

I am just paranoid to hurt someone by suggesting it!

But I feel that it also gave me energy. I don't know if that was because it was helping the tick problems or because it was the electrolyte thing again.

I did increase slowly, but got up to the 10g salt/10g C per day. I even took smaller doses of it when I was on my meds. Who knows, maybe it contributed to helping me! Because after the Mepron I did see some progress.

Anyways, I know it sounds like I am flip-flopping a lot....sorry for that. You just need to know there are people who feel strongly on both sides of the issue.

I won't claim it's a miracle protocol at all. But by the same token, I don't think it's bull-"poop".

I don't think it did any damage to me, and it might have even helped me.

I'm glad I did it, but I will say, considering that it could be risky for some people, I would in general just recommend using prescriptions. They are probably more likely to give you the positive effects you are looking for.
