Good Morning Everyone,

I am on Doxy for 30 days 200 mgs a day. Symptoms are still here so Doc increased the dose to 400 a day for another month and will see if the symptoms are getting better.

Question....Can I test for co infections while on Doxy? Can I do the CD 57 while on Doxy?

Question....I was sleep well prior to treatment now I'm not sleeping good. Does anyone know if Lyme causes this and if so why?

Question....We were going to increase my thyroid meds but for the first time my levels have been good for the last 3 months and I wonder if Lyme was behind this. I didn't have a gouder or a high TSH but my Free levels were in the basement.

Question....Has anyone gained weight with Lyme?

I'm also extremely tired and my joints hurt so I though it was thyroid meds needing adjustment I guess not?

Sami,
Hi, I also live in the philadelphia area. I am currently on doxy 200mg/day but was on Ceftin 500mg 2x a day for 30 days, and on IV Rocephin for 28 days.

I too wake up alot at night and have gained weight. (About 5 lbs or so since first going on Lyme meds) [Frown]

I actually just had my LLMD do thyroid tests because I was looking for a possible reason other than eating too much icecream...Me and my 2 daughters are major icecream junkies in the summer!

Well, the test results came back normal. However, I was thinking it was the lyme as well, so who knows? Unfortunately it would be during swimsuit season [shake]

Good luck!

Joy

I'm wondering the same things - basically.

My daughter and I need the CD 57 test done as we both think we may have had this as long as 10-12 years.

I also need to test for co-infections.

I'm on doxy 400md/day for 30 days - I'm one week into treatment.

Can these tests be done while under treatment?

Yes - weight gain happens!

I've gained almost 40 lbs in a year. We first thought that it was due to thyroid and being on steroids but no matter what I did I couldn't lose weight and I have been off steroids now for 8 months. I was even power walking 2.25 miles a day.

Now 1 month on meds and not walking I have lost 6 lbs. This is why I ask about the Lyme and weight gain.

As for testing for thyrod DO NOT go by TSH only. Insist that the doctor do your free levels. I was told over and over again that it wasn't thyroid until they did my Free T3 and Free T4 that is when they found the problem.

Abx never affected my Igenex tests. I have tested positive in '06, 07 and '08 and treated 2 full years not missing a day of abx.

Igenex also offers (I believe) a urine test that you must be on abx to test.

You could call and ask them. Their contact info is at www.igenex.com
