How can you tell if the abx is not working as opposed to a herx?

Suppose its the wrong abx? How would you tell if it is really just not working and your old symptoms are coming back?

Currently on Biaxin for approx 4 weeks, 1000mg, and I feel like my symptoms are returning.

Before I was on doxy for 3 weeks and I felt 90% normal. In fact, the doxy made me feel like I was improving.

Now, with stronger abx it feels like I am backsliding.

Im confused and worried Im on the wrong abx. [dizzy]

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I wanted to push this up to see if you can get responses - as I have the very same question.

I'm on various abx for 4 months. Very little improvement, better days, worse days, no cycle that I can see. How do we know...herx vs. abx not being effective?

Hi Tick,

I do think this is a very valid concern for alot of people.

Everyone claims "Oh your are herxing, or, Its a Herx!", but how does anyone REALLY know for sure and what are the differences between the two?

How do you even clinically prove its a herx and abx NOT working?

Is it a guess, or do you get tested after to see if things have improved.

I dont think it is safe to "assume" herx when you could be taking all the wrong meds.

And if this is the case, why would people ASSUME herx for YEARS!

Good question for my next dr. visit on Wendesday.

Hope we find out! Will keep you posted.

[hi]
