I have a ridiculous pain tolerance first off. I have slept only a few hours since this started.
I took ONE dose of Clindamycin, and within two hours started getting a frontal headache (took it almost 24 hours ago). It has radiated ALL over my head and down to my shoulders since that time and I AM MISERABLE. I don't have insurance and I really contemplated going to the ER for a shot to help relieve it.
Has anyone else had experience with this? I know it is some form of herx, and I was most recently on Azithromycin, and although basically herxed the whole time I was on it, I never had a headache.
My headaches weren't this harsh even before I started any treatment.
I have been using ice, pain rub and staying out of the light and trying to just stay down overall. I did take some Ibuprofen, which my LLMD doesn't like AT ALL, but I had to something.
It is almost time for another dose, and I am wondering if this pain could really get worse if I take another one..........

Read the article above b/c of bart...or hemobartonella.
If you have bart ( headaches ) are herx...to me looks as it hiting something.
I am not sure if you have neurolyme...that was my first kind of pain ...when I stated treatment.
But when I added other antibiotics to treat bart also...the pain as your became unberable.
You have to taugh it out.
My ER did not helped a bit. They told me I HAD A BAD MIGRANE.
So sorry you are going through this. I have been started on clindamycin as well. This is my first treatment and I have other testing that is being done.
I also have headaches daily. They also are all over my head, down my neck to my shoulders. I have severe pain in my back and legs, feet too, but this I had before the clindamycin.
So, b/c of the back, leg and feet pain, I have been going to pain mgmt and have been on vicodin ES. This is probably why I can tolerate the headache/neck/shoulder pain. I am taking ibuprofen too.
Just want you to know that I'm experiencing same thing. The only thing I know for sure is that I have Lyme. Still testing for the co-infections. Hang in there and hope ya feel better soon.

OK, I have taken another dose, even though I was very hesitant with all this pain. I do have neuroborreliosis, and have been diagnosed with Bart and Babs.......from what I have read though the Clindamycin hits Babs harder than Bart (if at all?)
The first herx I had when I was put on Doxy was very severe, and I had to go on narcotics to help control the pain. I haven't herxed like that since. I hate to resort to going back on heavy pain meds, but I know I have GOT to get through this to get over it.
My LLMD and I had a serious talk about this last week, and he suspects that I am one of those "special" people that can't take the recommended full doses of most of the antibiotics. It has something to do with how the liver metabolizes the meds. Oh well, he said I will still recover, but it may have to be at smaller doses than most.
All of my liver testing is fine, just thought I better throw that in before anyone panicked about that.
Thanks for the encouragement.........

HI tif...I had the same thing...
I was in exscrutinating pain with just doxy.... Now I can handle LEVAQUIN 500mg, Rifampin 600 mg , Azithr 600mg , Pulsing FLagyl( 500x2), 6 andrographis and 10 HH capsules...Count n ot even do 2 antibiotics at the same time last year.
Yes, you need to take high dosages of BINDERS and Detox as much as you can....
My son has the same issue an is strugling but he is handling more now than 1 year ago.
You may have to start out super slow. Like wait until your headache settles down some, the take 1/4 of your med and see what happens. Sometimes the die off is shockingly severe.
I have a high pain tolerance as well. I have had root canals, surgery and natural childbirth and I don't take pain meds other then advil (pain meds make me feel sick).
Two weeks ago with a start of new meds, I had the worst headache ever. at first I had a swelling on the back of my head, where it attaches to the neck about the size of my thumb. It was spongy and tender.
My LLMD said ' it is inflamation from your nerological infection.' Then a few days later the swelling went away, but my headache intensified. It was real bad. I didn't drive for a week. I felt like my eye was going to pop out of my head because there was so much pressure in it.
At one point I thought my eye popping out would be a relief (silly as it sounds)
Very intense. The kicker is that I actually called my ex-husband of twenty years ago to ask if he knew where I could get some weed. (he didn't answer, and I am feeling much better this week, just had to intermittently skip a few doses, with my docs permission and ride it out)

I was warned about treating with this protocol........and they were RIGHT!
As far as detox goes, my LLMD recommends charcoal, which is technically a binder/detox supplement. I have not been the best at taking this at times, but I definitely think it is needed right now.......how much do you take when you are herxing?
I generally take 2 capsules outside of a 2 hour window of other meds/food.
