My third test for lyme came up negative. Blood was tested at Mayo clinic. doc says I dont have lyme but maybe arthritis or auto immune disease. Elisa was pos. western blot was pos with igg 66 igm 23 and 41. I dont know what to think now. I still have swollen knee, muscle twitching, sore upper arms and stiff shoulders and range of motion problem with arms, panic attacks, losing breath sometimes when trying to go to sleep and mild aches all over. Was bitten for sure in 93 and maybe since. any suggestions?

Dear scharf,

If the Hold-the-Mayo Clinic said you don't have Lyme disease... I'd bet money you do! LOTS of money.

For years and years and years they have told folks this stuff... and it just ain't so. Shame on them!

I know of no lab where I've seen more flase-negatives than the lab they use. It is a sin in my opinion.

Fact is.. I've only ever ONE time in many years heard of anyone who was diagnosed with Lyme disease at the Hold-The-Mayo clinic.. and that was just recently.

When we heard the news... we all celebrated because it was a first ever!

Do you know if you were tested...never mind.. if there the tests would need to be done over anyhow...

But the question is...

Have you been checked for babesiosis? If not.. might I suggest you consider it? I noted a couple things you mentioned that made me think this is a possibility. Not 100 percent sure here.... not at all... but a consideration.

Others will come by to welcome you tomorrow.. or later today actually.

Sorry I can't share more... very tired.... and I am on my way to bed before the birds get singing so loud they keep me awake!

You are in the right place. Hang in there... ok? These wonderful folks here will help you.

[Big Grin]

Please see an LLMD ASAP.

You can find one in the seeking doctor section.

I'm pretty sure arthritis doesn't account for all of those symptoms.

I was diagnosed with and treated for late stage Lyme in 1991 with 6 weeks of doxycycline. Initially felt better, but then developed health problems that last until today.

Tincup is absolutely correct about the Mayo. My

Lyme Test was negative there also. If you get a copy of your test, there is a disclaimer below

the test results, that says a negative result does not mean you dont have Lyme Disease.

Your other tests were positive, right? That is a blessing to have.

I wish you the best in your recovery

Your test results are CDC positive. Your said your ELISA was positive and you had 2 (23 and 41) out of 3 IgM bands positive.

Mayo may be thinking that because of your limited IgG response (the antibody response that usually comes after an IgM) it really isn't a VALID positive test....implying that you IgM response is cross-reacting with something else.

I don't know what your other tests looked like but these results and your symptoms certainly do not rule out lyme.

I've been treating lyme for almost a year based on similar test results. Although I'm not 100%, I'm certainly improved.

Welcome to the lyme controversy!
