It has been 9 months. Since treatment, my "severe" burning is much less severe, but now I have added more vision problems, ear problems. Thankfully, not cognitive problems. Is this normal to take so long, and for symptoms not to disappear yet, and new ones come along as I add new abx. I feel my vision will not get better, and the ringing and thumping in the ears will just stay there foreever.

Are you on orals?

Alot of symptoms in the head like the brain, eyes, ears, ect. are hard to reach with orals but not with IV's...

Might wnt to give IV's a try

I have been on bicillin shots for 9 months, 3 times a week. oral abx added are levaquin, zithromax, flagyl. also did valtrex for virals. I feel the abx penetrates my brain, I feel brain tingling and cold sensations, so my llmd tells me the drugs are getting in the brain.

Does your LLMD change around abx? It did take a long time for me to see improvement .... but we kept trying different combos and all of a sudden it was like someone turned the lights back on. I cognitively and physically felt better. Up to that point, it was slow, but steady progress.

That was about 9 months into treatment.

If some symptoms have not gotten better at all, it would seem like you might have a coinfection that has not been addressed .... or maybe the meds just aren't the right ones.

After 1 year my burning is less severe as well, but covers more area. I didn't have it in my hands up to 6 months ago. I was treated with all kinds of lyme/bart/babs abx.

yep, my llmd has added and deleted abx every month to 2 months. I got a circular streak on my back when I went back on levaquin. I think I do have bart, even though the test came back negative.
My question is why did I get new vision and ear symtpoms AFTer starting treatment, actaully, after being on levaquin (first 2 months of treatment(, then I went off levaquin, then the vision and ears got worse, started during a herx, and stayed as is.
now, I am back on levaquin. I adctually felt physically better after 3 months of treatment (went off levaquin), then some symptoms intensified, thats why I am back on levaquin. Central nervous systome issues .
I talk to my llmd next week. I hope he has some answers, I trust him, as he worked directly for Dr. B for over a decade. so he follows Dr. B's protocol to a t.

Hi Jenin,

Yes, yes, yes, it's normal to experience what you are going through. Symptoms wax and wane.

And 9 months in 'LYME TIME' is not long. I know it seems long but depending on what other critters are in you system it may take even longer.

I can only say what my doc does and that is I'm on a combo of the same abx's 3 to 6 months, depending on his recomendations and my response.

Good health to you!

stella,
how long have you been on treatment? I got bitten in 1999, and I was treated for 3 weeks. I had no symptoms, except the rash came out AFTER on abx for 3 weeks.
I had no symptoms for several years, until I herniated my disc, and started prednisone. then, I got stiff neck (that was in 2005/2006). Then, after my surgery in feb 2007, that is exactly when all the lyme came out . So, when I had no symtpoms , does that mean the lyme was just sitting there in my body, not multiplying, waiting for my immune system to go down?
