I got my results from the liver biopsy. I'm still confused. It's nothing serious thank goodness.
Apparently my cholesterol (barely above normal) is the cause of the increase in my liver enzymes. I thought for sure it would have been medication related.
I'm supposed to keep close track. Easy because I'm still on the standing order for BW.
The biopsy was SOOOOO much easier than I thought it would be. SOOOOOOO much easier. I had worked myself up so far for no reason.
Let me know please, if anyone has had a "liver" issue. I'm very curious.

Yes I have, and it was due to Hemochromatosis, aka iron overload.
First shows up as elevated liver enzymes. Causes fatigue and joint pain. In fact I thought I my health issues were from that.
Just diagnosed with Lyme 3 weeks ago, so double my fatigue! Must say I was shocked, as I am a very girlie girl (old lady now, 57) and do not fit the profile.
My genetic defect is H63D Homo (means I got from both parents). This is not uncommon if you are of Northern European descent.
My maiden name is Lucky, so what does that tell ya? Irish.
Liver biopsy is generally done to determine liver load of iron and if it has caused liver disease yet.
Surely they checked your Ferritin level, which would show if you are overloading iron. Did they? Did you get copies of all your labs?
They generaly do not do a liver biopsy without a very good reason, because it can be fatal.
Just make sure they are telling you everything.

I had a liver biopsy, too, in 2005, when I went into liver failure from Ketek. The biopsy was a lot easier than I anticipated. I opted not to use sedation because I react to anesthesia and sedation, and my liver was already so damaged at that point.
I've read and heard that the tick diseases themselves can cause elevation of liver enzymes, although most people on these boards usually seem to have it happen from the antibiotics.
I'm sure you're glad it's over!
