My LLMD has suggested that I get my PICC line installed at a hospital so that it can be covered by insurance.
Has anyone done this in or around the NYC area? My local hospitals do not do it. Thanks!

I'm not in NYC but I had mine installed in the hospital at radiology. It took about 15 minutes to put in, actually about 2 minutes to put in but 15 minutes of prep and stuff....
Insurance has covered just about everyone's picc line that I know of including myself.

I live in NY--I have had my PICC line(s) put in at various hospitals, you just have to call and make an appointment with the radiology department, from start to finish you should expect to be there for about 45 minutes. Good luck!

Ah! So I was speaking with the wrong department. Thanks so much. I'll try my local hospital again...

You might be there longer if they are going to be giving you meds for the first time. So they can make sure you dont have a reaction.
When i had mine put in, about 11 days ago, it took about 2 hours. 30-45min for the prep and the actual PICC line. another 30 for them to get an xray of my chest to make sure it wasnt in my groin.
another 30min for the first dose.
and another 30 for them to make sure i wasnt going to die.
